amp differences?
so i've been shopping for a new amp for my IDMAX 12 V3D4 and was wondering which amp was a better quality amp
rockford power 1001bd vs. rockford x6
the small power difference aside, is there one that is a better quality than the other? the x6 is a little bigger and cooler looking, but functionally are these virtually the same amp? seems like everyone is coming out with a "rice" line of products (rockford f&f, phoenix octane, bazooka's p miller crap), but i want and amp that performs, not that neccesarily looks good.
also any recommendations? been looking at phoenix, PPI, hifonics and rockford.

Phoenix and PPI make excellent products that are several steps above Hifonics and Rockford on the quality meter. (not dissing either product, just stating my opinion) You will pay out the *** for PG and PPI though....especially for 1000 watts.

$300-400. i don't care about neccesarily getting a 1000rms amp, but i want something at least 600-800W @2 ohms. i've got some audiobahns, but i really don't want to use them for much except as a patch.
been looking on ebay, and i'd consider used if it was a good product

i would look at teh arc 1500D, the max is inherrently a smooth woofer, although it will play whatever style yrou amplifier plays. the rockfords and hifonics amplifiers arent smooth amplifiers by far.
phoenix certainly is, but if yoru looking for that extra bit of perfection, id check out the arc 1500D, and its definitely in or under budget, second-hand...

I will start off by saying I have had both Rockford amps, the 1001 and I currently have an X7. I had the 1001 pushing 3 12w6's and the thing slammed louder then you can imagine. My take on the X7 pushing 4 Kenwood DB 10's, not nearly as loud, dont get me wrong its a great amp but I would prefer the 1001 again just because it seemed like it performed better. I also never had a problem with my 1001 turning off do to the 1.3 ohm load I had going to it but the X7 will sometimes shut off with a 1.5 ohm load. Overall, X6, X7 both great amps. My recommendation, go with the 1001. As far as PPI goes, I would stay away, onle because they are owned by DEI. DEI is the worst company, I say that because since they bought Orion they will not honor my lifetime warranty on the HCCA 225, they said they bought the name not the warranty. Just my $.02

where can i find arc products online? i tried google and epinions and got nothing (except a site with prices in pounds).
thank you for the input on the rockfords targetpractice. i do want a fairly accurate amp though for my sub so i can get a smooth rich sound when i'm listening (and a big amp so i can still impress passengers with how much noise one 12 can make).

Arc's website is www.arcaudio.com..... or you could call em up at 1-209-543-8706
They should be able to tell ya where you can buy their products. Really good stuff.

oh i'm happy with my 12 now, believe me. even with a crap amp, it's a very warm sound that fits well with all music. and it does get loud with very little power.
and i looked on the arc website, and there's one store in ohio and i never heard of the city it's in (and i've been here quite a while...).
i think i'll just keep my eye out for one then... i like buying stuff none of my friends have heard of and then making them all want it too
