Hi all.... I recently had an alpine cda9813 which i bought only around 3 months ago because my old pioneer got stolen... and now i got jacked once again!!!!!!! NO MORE HU NO MORE SUB NO MORE SPEAKERS NO MORE AMP AND A BROKEN BODY KIT TO TOP IT ALL OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #(*&$@(#*&$#@%@#(&$(*#@&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and now i need to buy another hu... excuse me once again #@(*&$(*@#^$(*#&(*@&#%(&@#$(*&#$ (*&@#(*&$(@#*&$(*@#&$(*@#%(@#&$&@%(*$@&% $*(&%(*$&$(*#@&$(*&#@%(*&#@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok.... now to the question... im completely building my sounds up again and everything i seem to know wat i want already except the deck... which one is good??? i mean i loved the pioneer and i loved the alpine even more... and now the question is wat if theres something better?? im looking for a deck thatll bring out the most detail in my music... i really loved the alpine because i had more options to play with the tone of the music i listen to... but my question is i read somewhere on here dat more options only weakens the sq... so would it be wise to go with a deck with many many options or jus find a good one dat has just the right tone... if so which one is that????!???????... or should i jus go with a deck witout that many options and add a eq?? or would buying better speakers bring out more detail to where i dont need an eq?? sorry for the long post but im really frustrated and confused but mostly angry (#*&#@(*$&#@(*& thanks in advance

my suggestion to you since you quite often get robbed is to look into nakamichi. nakamichi makes units for high high end automobiles like benz's and such for people that want a stock looking HU, yet with audiophile quality. many say that nakamichi's are up there with eclipse in quality.
the other suggestion is find a local retailer that sells eclipse. again eclipse is up there with nakamichi and a few other headunits, but if i remember correctly, the higher eclipse units have a 1 year theft warranty if purchased and installed from an authorized retailer. this means that if it gets stolen in 1 year, you get a new one for free.

both are top f-in quality in sound, and both are good in a high risk situation

I'd have to suggest andeclipse hu also, just as ludlam did. Eclipse has what they call the esn, you tell it a "key cd" to put in and when it is disconnectd from power, or stolen, you need to put in that exact cd to make it work again. Granted not every thief would know that eclipse cd players have this and if the thief is looking for a quick $20 they can sell it to some crack head who doesn't know that it won't work, but hey, it's better than nothing!!

One other thing, the eclipse hu's used do come with a full 3 year warranty when installed by an authorized dealer..........as for the 1 year theft replacement, this was the deal i got in the summer of 98 when i bought a 5303r eclipse deck, i recently (last month) bought the new 8443 eclipse deck, and it comes with the 3 yr warranty when installed by an authorized dealer, but they dropped the one yr theft replacement, as far as i can tell from my warranty card, i've read mine for my 5303r 5 yrs ago where it talekd of the theft replacement and i've read the waranty card last month and it did not mention it.

If you go for the eclipse 8443 that i got, you will be very very happy, They retail for $420, which is a great price for their just under top of the line, so make sure you check it out!! Very nice sound quality, lots of nice features.....very good price.

waitaminute. doesn't the cda9813 have a detachable face? i always thought that would deter attempts to steal it, was i wrong? i dunno why anyone would steal it when they can't use it

you can buy faces on ebay for dirt cheap. either that or go swipe one from your local best buy/curcuit city

yea, but i thought the faces had some recognition thing to it, like, a specific key to a specific lock? maybe that's only for some models, or maybe i dreamt it

I'd say tint your windows if not already done so, and sleep in your car with a shotgun, waiting for somebody to steal your $hizit.....ok i guess that wouldn't get your stuff back anyways.

Do you have an alarm? Is your car being broken into right outside of your house/apt/wheverever you live? DO YOU THUMP YOUR MUSIC LOUD near where you live? Lud's right about the nakamichi hu's because they are very very ugly in a way that they look like a stock unit. You have to be careful where you play music loud because you never know who is listening. It doesn't take much intelligence to be a thief, just takes some *****.

Get a new hu with atleast some sort of theft deterrence, detachable face or eclpse security network or whatever you may choose, but then make sure you are smart about it. Don't let the world know what you have, hopefully you won't get jacked a third time, if you are careful about it atleast you'll know that you did everything you could to protect your investment...and maybe you just have some very bad bad luck.

if you are careful and mindful of what you do with your car, you should be fine, or alteast you'll know that you tried your best to protect your interests.

I used to have over $3000 in stereo equipment in my 97 dodge neon that any idiot could break into with a coat hanger within 15 seconds, remove my hu within another 30 seconds, and steal all my crap within 2 mins or so, parked in bad neighborhoods, with hoodlums all around, my friends car parked next to mine got broken into for a mere $5 sitting in the center console while my car sat there as cool as can be just because nobody ever had a reason to think that my car would have anything of value in it. That's why i firmly believe that myself as an owner can make a difference in whether or not bad stuff happens to me. think think think of the worst scenario and do what you need to do to avoid it from happening.

if he does play his music loud or lives far from his parked car, i think it'll be a good idea to get a long distance pager w/ his alarm, it costs more, but since he's had bad experiences before, i think it'll be recommended

An experienced theif would drool AND recognize a bland faced eclipse or nakamichi. I just dont see the point of buying a 500$ + deck when he has already been jacked twice.

I feel ya on the theft part. My Deck got stolen only last week. I really love my loud music. I like to feel it. But i think it'll be a freezin day in hell before I play my music loud around my apartments. i am also getting darker tint.

I have a limo tint... but i think it gives more time for f***ers to steal your sh** because they have the safety of not being able to be seen by others... so im going to take mine off
