Hey guys..
I have a 99 Honda Civic EX. My CD reciever has been a hasle. I finally got it working.. then driving down the road one day.. it decided to stop sending music to the speakers (for lack of better words). One of the red wires was touching the metal I guess and it kept going on and off.. Eventually.. the fuse blew. After I replaced the fuse, the speakers still wont work. I have checked every fuse in my car.. they are all fine.. I have checked the connection.. also fine. Do you have any idea what my problem is? I would really appreciate any help. Thank you so much.
Regards,
Patrick Johnson

i think the red wire is usually the remote turn on lead. this is the wire that tells the radio when to turn on (when the key is in on or ACC position). u said you checked, but check #8 on the interior fuse box ( 3rd in from the right on the bottom row, should be a 7.5A fuse).
if not buy a cheap multimeter and go to town finding out which wire isn't hot when the car is on, and there's the fix

well.. that's the thing. The Radio itself works fine. The fuses are fine and the connection are fine. I am absolutly sure of it. For some reason though, the speakers are not playing the music.
Is it possible that something happened to the cd player that makes it to where it won't give music to the speakers? I appreciate your help.

red wire is usually switched on, like it provides power when the car is turned on, yellow is usually constant 12 volts power, hooked directly up to the cars battery and always provided 12v power, blue is the remote turn on.

if the amplifier circuit is blown, then it won't work... fuses are designed to protect against too much current going through the machine, but they don't protect against every bad thing that can happen.
i've killed an amp by reversing the 12V and ground connections
it blew the fuses but killed the amp anyways.

well, I don't have and amp.. The cd reciever itself has a built in amp, but that is it. I replaced all the fuses in my car.. and reconnected all the wires.. still no sound..
There is probably something wrong with the HU. Take it in to an audio shop and have them send it out for repair, or buy a new one. If it's still under warranty (if you bought it from a shop) then it should get repaired for free.
They'll usually send it out to another company like "United Radio" to fix....I donno, the shop I go to always fudges a receipt for me that says my warranty is still active, so i've never paid to have anything repaired.
I think I remember them saying it's like $80 or something though. Just give your local shop a call and find out!

Before you go sending it off, you might want to check your connections to the speaker leads. If you had a power wire touching metal, you may very well have a speaker lead shorting out too, either against metal or against another lead; if the radio sees that any of the speakers are shorting out, most internal amps will shut themselves off. Could also be a blown speaker. check all your connections first, before you send it off for service that it may not need.
