Hey everyone, I just got my new JL Audio 12w3v2 today to replace my 12w3. The reason I had to replace it was because all the power wires kept snapping, right behind the terminals. I soldered them, but they still kept on breaking off. Now, I am paranoid that this will happen to my new V2. Now basically I e-mailed JL and told them the problem, they said the following:
"Typically when the tinsel leads are snapping, it's due to severely overpowering the sub, improperly tuned ported enclosure, leaky box or the speaker is just being over driven."
Now, I have an Alpine M300 which can't even push my sub to its maximum potential, my ported enclosure is sealed pretty well and the port itself is very close to the specs for my sub. I maybe listen to my sub 3 hours on average per day, not at the same time. So this leads me to believe that:
a) it is some setting on my amplifier that is creating this problem. If so, if you all know what type of setting would cause this then that would be really helpful.
b)when I first got my 12w3, I didn't know what I was doing and basically I tried to connect the wires from the amplifier to the terminals on the sub by just soldering them. Its a long story, but I ended up having to keep resoldering and resoldering all these wires onto the terminals until I discovered that you can use those terminal connectors to keep the wires connected to the terminals. Maybe all the head from the soldering pen weakened the tinsels.
If you all could please help me out then that would be great. I spent too much money on subs already and I want to stop worrying about this. Thanks for your help!

IMO...Once you break the oiginal connection, I can imagine that its pretty hard for you (or anybody for that matter) to do a good job in reconnecting the wires to the terminals. I have some 12W3's and have never had this problem.
