I have one question for those who know. Since I broke my x-over subwoofer input, I am using the main front input for both the front and sub channels on the x-over. Any way, before I installed the amps I shut of all of the x-overs on them ( or put it as high as possibe for the sub amp), and I put the gain sensitivity to maximum on both amps...which is 6v for the high's amp and 4 v for the low's amp. My plan was to just use the line drivers on the x-over to boost the signal and be able to adjust the gain from the x-over. Is this the best way to do it, or should I have turned the gain up just a lil bit on the amps?

The reason why I am asking is because the x-over can put out 9.5 v (and 13.5v peak), but I have the gain for both the highs and lows almost all the way up...to about 8 volts I would assume. However, the amp for the highs has a clipping indicator and it doesn't even blink when turned up 3/4 of the way up. It is supposed to blick at maximum and it supposed to stay on if the gain is set to high. Also, my subs seem a lil lower then before...like the gain can be turned up higher...it just feels weird to turn the x-over gain to 8 or 9 volts when the input sensitivity on the amps is set to 4 v?

Anyway, sorry for the long winded rant...any opinions are welcome.

...and thanks Joe!!

Looking good Fonto!

Personally i would turn up the gains on the crossover and keep the gains on the amps as low as possible. The higher the signal input going into the amp, the less it has to work to amplify the signal. Your amps should be able to reach the same volume with the amp gains set alot lower and thus run cooler and more efficient.

Cool, thanks for the advice! I'm gonna try turning up the gain just a smidgen, and then I'll do the rest of the adjusting from the x-over.

ok, heres the deal, the audiocontrol x-overs put out a voltage proportional to the input you give them. i think the max output happens when you feed it like 6ish volts. so in reality youre down way lower on the volt scale, and dammit, go get your audiocontrol fixed...

I want to get it fixed...but i don't want it to take forever before I get it back.
It works fine how it is; I have one input and two outputs. If I got it fixed I would have two input and two outputs...I don't know how much of a difference it would make?

Anyway, I was able to fix the RCA input so everything is cool now...I think I need to reset my gains now.

Regularjoe is on a distinguished road
Lookin good. Ya gotta love that whole finished look.

I've been away for the holiday weekend. Did a ton of riding on my new motorcycle w/ the family. We put on about 1,000 miles in 3 days. My uncle is hardcore, he put 25k on his bike last year alone. Wow!

My latest project is my girlfreinds new car. I am putting all my old stuff in there. I put in my old Pioneer DEH-7000R last night. Still lots more to do .....
