Chrome strip on hood
You'll be fine .. I did the same thing and it turned out fine. Now, if you're referring to the trim piece, it's entirely chrome. If you're talking about the hood, it's also painted.
Just be careful painting it because it's not flat and to get an even (good-looking) coat you may want something to hold it up.
Lemme know if you have questions, or if you want pics. It's really easy and looks good when you're done.

there are holes in the hood where the chrome strip is attached. so if you dont mind riding with holes in your hood, go for it. otherwise spend the 30 and get a painted strip.
I have the RS grill with body colored hood molding also. It cost me about $20 to paint it myself, except I was also able to use the paint for the grill, and my eyelids, and I have about half a can left for other stuff. I would suggest painting it yourself, but that's just me.
PS I had them color match the paint to match the factory color, just so we're clear. That's the only reason it was $20 for the can.

Hey guys, I looked at the site and found the front ainted moulding, but where is the rear license plate moulding? By the way, you can paint the stuff, like I did but it still chips off with the rocks and such. Then you have to strip it and repaint it. I even tried the flexible style paint with rubber or urethane for bumpers and still chipping just less.
