Rep Power: 284 How Thick is the Pipe on AEM and INJEN Cold Air Intakes ??
Hello,
Got my IMPORTECH Cold Air Intake, in the Mail Today.
It's got 2.5" OD Pipe... I was just wondering How thick the Pipe is on the AEM
And the INJEN . . . . . .
Mine looks pretty weak inside the box.
Thanks

Rep Power: 284 My Honda Dealer had an AEM for the S2000 hanging up I swear it looked like I could stick my Head in the Pipe. . . .
No biggie though, 2.5" is enough, i'm never doing forced induction so no need for anything larger.

Rep Power: 344 actually ur importech (generic) CAI is 2.38... I could be wrong though. but last I check, all those generic CAIs aren't 2.5 inch.. close, but not.
AEM is a stepped design... to improve velocity... 2.5 inch to 2.75 inch pipping. the filter diameter is 2.75 inch.
InJen isnt a stepped design as far as I know... 2.5 inch all the way to the filter.. although it has an interest bend point to produce this hump of power. in mid range... around 4,000-4,5000.
hmm.. kinda weird to know this when u dont have any of the intake. lol.
note: the AEM one is the ex one.. the dx/lx one is diff... not sure if its a stepped design or not.. although it does have a 2nd tubbing (albiet shorter), I couldn't tell if the 2nd one is larger or not. maybe someone can let me know one day.

Rep Power: 284 My Generic **Makes Finger Quotations**
"Importech" is 2.5"
It's doesn't fit worth a Damn Though
It's in need of Some Ghetto-fo-cations
I left it as a Short Ram Intake after two hours of fussing with it yesterday.
I have to pick up some small plate metal and hook up an extentsion for the filter.
The Filter on mine doesn't have the neck that the AEM filter has, So I'm gonna have to extend it a little so it doesn't rest up against the transmission.
It also doesn't come with the Bracket that the AEM DIY shows, So i'm gonna need a small piece of Plate Metal to bend up for a support Extentsion. I'll mess with it Monday and try to take pictures So people know what to expect if they buy one.

Rep Power: 344 yeah the first generic ones are gay. I guess they are 2.5 inch, I didn't really measure them
they now include the AEM bracket with all generic CAIs though. heh.
getting better. all for only like 50 shipped too... they also include a better filter.. and if u install it right, it wont rest against anything...
check it out:
http://home.socal.rr.com/capyoda/caiinstall1.htm
they still sell those though? all the generics I see now are almost exact same AEM dupe...
when I bought the one I have.. I couldn't believe it came with the transmission bracket!

That's a great DIY.. thanks.. .. .
your generic is definatly better than mine, filter, and bracket of course. And i got stupid yellow rubber.
I called to try to get the AEM bracket... What the heck is that thing called, the guys at AEM said a dealer would have to order it, and the place I called to order it, called AEM and couldn't finda listing for it..
Does anyone have an AEM part number for the transmission engine bracet thing ??

Rep Power: 344 hmm i doubt they have a part #
its silly how AEM doesn't know their own product.. or whoever was at the phone.
but I do remember someone getting a hold of one from AEM...
basically AEM shipped some intake without those brackets... so..
u can try that approach.. heh.. but u have been calling so I dont know.
u'll need to get a dealer to get AEM to quote them via a description.. but i duno if any dealer would go through the trouble to do that for you.
personally I would but I'm not a dealer. lol.
i would just make/find something similiar to that.. all u really need is a bracket that have two holes that fits the big nut, and the tranny cable bracket/bolt...
u dont really need to have a 3rd hole for the ground battery.. u can just use one of the intake brackets for that... its like near the fuse box.. fits perfectly and grounds fine.
