Yet another Tanabe Question
Yet another Tanabe Question
Hopefully none of you will complain about this being a repost because I DID do a search (not a n00b) and the results I got were rather skimpy... not enough for me at least. I was reading reviews for the Tanabe Racing Medallion and 75% read something like this:
____________________________________
Summary:
Paid around $550 for it, custom installed. Driving in any parking garage WILL set off all the alarms. And therefore attract cops and such. Such, being hot chicks! I would recommend to anyone wanting the best.. not some cheap no-name look alike. The price is steep but you get what you pay for!!
Strengths:
-Nice and deep tone, unlike inexpensive aftermarket ones
-Increased torque/hp from mid-range up to redline
-With silencer in, it is quieter than stock (to get rid of those fix-it tickets)
Weaknesses:
-Loud!! (without silencer!)
-Too quiet with the silencer!
____________________________________
About the volume... is it really too loud... other people say that it drones a lot and its really really loud... i dont want to spend $500-600 and get a headache every time i drive my car... Others say it wont look right with the stock bumper either. Many reviews were not for 7thgencivics (meaning it might be quieter on our cars?). I would appreciate any comments from Tanabe "family members".

I can't tell you how it sounds on our cars, but my friend has the tanabe on his GSR and it is too loud in my opinion, but it gave him 7whp after he installed it with racing header. The Tanabe dosen't sound quite as loud for our cars from what I heard of the clips provided from another member (If you haven't checked them out already). I think it might be more quite on our cars than others, but I'm not sure about it. You really can't go by what other people think as far as sound goes. I have the DC Sports TCS and I'm very pleased with the sound it produces, but you may think it's too quite. It's all in your personal taste. And no matter what exhaust you get, don't think it will give you noticable gains weither it's the Tanabe, Apexi, DC sports etc..because I have yet to see any Dyno runs saying which exhaust gives the best gains.. I hope this helps you out a little!

its loud but not to loud...if that makes any sense. the ONLY time i think its to loud is when i'm on the freeway, i have 2 12" subs and i can hear the exhaust in the background, but all in all i'm TOTALLY happy with it and would recommend it.
