Why Get Carbon Hood?
Sorry for being a N00b, don't have much car enthusiasts around me.
Why get Carbon Hood?
Does it make your car lighter? Does it let more sound out? or is it just for the looks?

Ok first off the noob excuse won't work anymore. You've been around since April of 2002 and have over 500 posts! Also you say that there aren't any car enthusiasts in your area, then you must not be looking very hard. You're from San Jose. There are car shows all the time in that area, and there are car clubs everywhere. I know because I've been to a couple before in the that area. Just open your eyes and look my friend.

Oh yeah, I am getting a CF hood merely for looks cause less weight is to make faster which doesn't really work with our cars without a lot of money

It will bump you in to the Modified classes in autocross (or maybe Steet Prepaired). where you would basically get your a$$ whooped. thats the #1 reason I'm not getting one. that and I think that the look has been played out.... If I did ever get one I would probably end up painting it to match the car.
oh ya, if you dont know all ready, Im an autocross Junky. which means that if a part dosn't make the car faster or handle better it isn't going on my car.
mmmmmmmmm........ autocross......

It is expensive. Oh; make sure you buy a quality hood, as you will regret cheap ones. I've heard of CF hoods flying off cars!!

Besides the obviouse, If you have a High performance car that gets really hot the paint on the hood can start to flake. But seeing how we don't have to worry about that it does not apply. The problem with CF hood is that the stock hood acts like a big heatsink. Hood absorbs alot of heat and disipates is rapidly. Going with CF keeps the heat in and does not release it as fast. Sorry about the spelling and If I am wrong please let me know.

It's pretty much just for looks now. Hoods on new cars are much lighter than in the past, so you don't really save that much weight. If you're in it for weight savings, you'd probably be better off just going on a diet.
