Hey guys, this was on Ebay and I was just wondering If anybody has heard of anything like this or thinks it sounds alittle suspicious.. it's so damn cheap that i'm thinking about buying one just to see if it does anything ...let me know what you think, heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33557
Complete Scam!
Cold air in the engine expand and you need enough fuel for it . Now if hot air enters the engine, and you supply too much fuel(that what this damn chip will do) you will mess up your engine far sooner ....
That guy is a con-artist...

4kohm resistor
The part is a $.90 4kOhm resistor....I have tried it and it does make a slight difference...
This idea was taken from several of the V8 high displacement forums....
This is why it works....(to a certain degree)....it tells your IAT sensor that you are getting 56 degree air.....so basically it tricks your engine into thinkning it's colder outside which isn't bad for our cars if you have a CAI b/c colder air combusts better...however, if it is colder then 56 degrees outside there is obviously no point in using it....to an extent it makes your engine run slightly richer...not a bad thing considering your ecu is not made for performance...
I went to the local radio shack and bought a simple 4kOhm resistor they come about 20 in a pack or so....a whole $.90 cent mod...lol....
The general idea is...do you ever notice that your car runs a lot better when it is cold outside???????
as alwasy flames are welcome

actually
Actually aside from ebay...there ain't no bs to it at all.....
It has been posted on quite a few other sites...
However, it probably isn't worth the time for sure...but it's not bs...
I'm an electrical engineer and I have checked into it....

I actually bought that "advanced timing kit" mod chip off a guy on ebay. I had taken my car to the dealer and asked a mechanic about installing the chip and told him that the ad for it said it would add up to 20 horsepower...The guy was selling those "mod-chips" (which were actually a cheap resistor you can buy from Radio Shack) for a buy one get get free deal for only a couple of bucks. Anyway, the mechanic told me not to install it on the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor because after a month or two with that on, it would totally mess up the oxygen sensor on your engine, hence...blowing your engine. so dont install that resistor...if you really want one, i'll send you mine.

My only experience with Chips was in my old '94 JGC Laredo, I put in the *factory* performace computer - sure it picked up a couple-ten horsepower but it detonated so bad on 94 octane fuel (And lots of it) that I took it out immediatley..I won't ever do a chip on a non turbo car again...
