NOOB QUESTION : Removing The Front Bumper

Sorry, I'm a total noob when it comes to cars. I want to remove my front bumper and I'm at the part where I need to lift the car up to get some bolts on the bottom. Now, can I do this alone with my stock single car jack or do I need two? And secondly where do I place them? Is this drawing correct?

if u good, then u dont even need one
usually one would do. just switch the jack around
u place the stock jack behind the front wheel, like 3-5" from it

and dont use your stock jack if you are working on your car. it is made for emergencies only!!! it can collapse easily. get ramps or a real jack from a car parts store or something.

and yes, the jack postion is behind the front wheels. it is in your owners manual or maybe on the kit to put your spare on, somehting like that.

look under the bumper, there is an arrow molded into the splash guard, behind that is the jack point on the frame rail... that way you can use one jack to lift the whole front at once, but you need to buy a hydraulic jack to do it. I wouldn't use the emergency jack to do it.
If you have some shortie screwdrivers, you can get the clips off without lifting the car up. But you should probably just invest the $50 in a jack and a set of stands if you plan on doing work on your car.

I agree, I was able to get my front bumper off without using a jack and my car is lowered about 2 inches, you should be alright.. It was my first time taking my bumper off so there were two of us, just to be safe...

If you don't have alot of experience with cars then I suggest that you don't get under your car with a scissor jack. If you have a hydraulic jack theres a spot in the front to lift the car, it looks like a tow hook.

Oh yeah why are you taking the fr bumper off? If your trying to clear the headlights you don't even need to take it off, just the 2 screws of the side and the 4 clip on top, then just bend the bumper.

Yea, I'm clearing my headlights.. On the DIY, they were saying how I should jack up my car, but I'll give it a try without using the jack.

make sure you have a soft, clean, cushiony cover to put the bumper on when you take it off. better yet, put the thing right under the bumper as youre taking it off in case something happens and it drops from you.

you dont need to jack it (like others have said), but if youre clearing your lights its easier to take the bumper off. plus that way youll get to know how to do it for future reference and can learn a bit more about your car.

being your first time and all, get a buddy to help you hold the bumper as youre unclipping it from the fenders...it kinda just pops off and if youre not ready it can fall and get scratched (refer to 1st suggestion to not get it scratched).

I did it that way. Just peel the bumper down. No need to take it off completely. This way, it's easy to do the project by yourself w/o having to worry about dropping the bumper and having it all scratched up.
