axelback/catback
OK, i keep hearing axel back and cat back. i know catback is from the catalitic converter, on back to the muff, so i would assume that the axel back is longer? from the front axel? and if it is then where is the cat? im kinda confused

axle-back connects to the stock resonator. (right before your right rear wheel).
It's pretty much the muffler and 3 feet of piping.

an axel bakc would suck i mean.
i thought of another question tho -
so if i get a cat back and a hi flo res and a downpipe and an exaust man/header that will be the whole exause right? do i need all of those things seperately, or do some come together? ive heard of bothe exausts and hearers(plural for more than one car) coming with downpipes i think

I dunno if anyone makes the whole thing, header and on back, but someone probably does. On the lower trim models the cat is in the downpipe, while on the EX the cat is after the downpipe. You just gotta figure out what you want to do and make sure you get what's right for your particular car and tastes.

well...DC sports makes a header and cat back exhaust for the EX, and you might have to search for a high flow cat, but those might be somewhat universal so go to a local muffler shop and ask.
as far as axle backs sucking, i would have to disagree with you on that one. maybe they are not as good if youre heavilly modifying your engine, like w/ a turbo or even possibly a custom intake manifold...but the stock piping is fairly unrestrictive as is. so if all youre gonna do is exhaust and nothing else, i doubt a cat back will give you any significantly noticable gains over even your stock exhaust.
someone even posted some dynos... with an intake, headers and full exhaust (i might be wrong on this, but if they changed the headers im assuming they went cat-back) they only got a 5-6hp gain at the wheels.
so, if you wanna spend almost a $1000 on headers, cat, and cat back for not even a 10hp gain vs. about $300 for an axle-back...go for it, its your money.
