AEm has a recall on some of there bypass valves that say can be easily fixed for, they were afraid that would occur. So it isn't crap the should have been notified though, maybe they didn't register the product or whatever

exactly, it only works when fully emerged, there are problems with its poor desogn and it effects air flow under normal application. on top of that AEM doesnt even garuntee that it will work in ANY conditions.
waste of money.

man i think i would bish at some AEM people!
and anyways, thats not the fault of having one! your supposed to be able to trust the thing, so its not someones fault for having it, like it still flooded their engine or somthing.

I have personally seen 3 engines saved by the Bypass valve. It does work. I live in Charleston, SC. We are right at sea level. Anytime it rains, the streets flood. I'm not taking any chances.
My valve was made after the recall. I have confidence. Sorry Joe, but I have to disagree with you on this one.
Just because one person has a problem with it doesn't mean the whole thing is flawed. How many times have people blown engines running nitrous? Yet you still use it don't you Joe?

Ummm, there was an article on it a while back warning about it. I thought it got spread around the 7GC threads... but I guess not... Anyways, there was a recall (it's on the AEM website) on the bypass valves. I suggest that the admins link it up onto a sticky so people know. However, I think the newest bypass valves don't break like that, so they won't get sucked into the throttle body.

I must disagree with the thread... sorry guru... the bypass has saved my *** here in houston several times... when it has flooded up to 3 feet, i've never had a problem, but my freind didn't have one and sucked water in thru the intake and down past the piston finally rendering the 1st cylinder useless as the engine tried to combust the water/fuel/air mixture..
For a half a hp I'll tkae the insurance... and mine came free with the cai..

A) Even without the faulty design, it’s still a waste of money
B) If you drive through enough water to completely submerge the intake filter you don’t need a bypass filter, you need to be tortured slowly for being so dumb.
C) Nitrous only "blows up engines" when it’s misused or not installed properly. Not to mention one gives you power gains unmatched by anytyhing other then FI while the other does diddly squat in 99% of the cases, whilst' in any case not adding ANY power.
Apples and oranges anyone?
D) In almost EVERY case the engine ingested the water with a part submergence when you look at people who have hydro locked his/her engine (hence the u r a moron for completely submerging your filter). THE BYPASS FILTER WILL NOT SAVE YOU IN THIS CASE.
BTW; I never said it was "flawed", I said it’s a waste of money.
Reading comprehension. Look into it.
Edit: just because your friend's cousin told you he drove through a puddle and claims it’s the filter which saved his engine doesn’t mean that it’s not a case of "I spent extra money on this crap and will believe anything to justify its purchase".
Just don’t floor it through puddles and don’t go trying to ford small rivers. It will be more effective and it’s FREE.
