exhaust rattle

why does my evo exhaust rattle against the bottom of my car, and more importantly, why does it only do it when its raining....it makes absolutely no sense...has anybody else had this problem or could they offer some insight into why its happening?

does it only do it when it rains? because mine just does it when it rains..i guess its where the two pieces bolt together right there under the passenger because thats where the noise comes from...if i was 100% sure thats where it was rattling i think i could build a bracket to bolt to the exhaust where the two pieces bolt together and then to the bottom of the car because there is a bolt right above that...somebody said something about it may be hitting the sway bar behind the front wheels but i'll have to look into that...maybe i should just take it to a muffler shop and let them look at it...

I have the same exhaust and have the same problem. It ratttles like crazy when it I go over some water when it rains or when I go over a big pile of snow. Not sure what the problem is but there are many posts regarding this issue. It would be a good idea to take it to a professional exhaust shop to check it out. I myself am getting pretty annoyed with this and am going to get it checked out.

well i have some rattle but thats mainly due to the fact that my car is too low that it scrapes when i go over bumps and there fore pushes the exhuast up /bends the pipe and it rattles when u kick it too hard
dunno if that helps!

All these stories make me glad I never changed my ehsaust system. I learned on a previous vehicle that them things never do fit right.

My Tanabe Rspec does this also when it rains. A lot of aftermarket exhausts seem to do it, you get used to it though.

If you have aftermarket exhaust it don't have anything to do with the cost or quality of the car. Honda didn't build the car to fit your exhaust, it's the othere way around. File a compaint with the company that made the exhaust.

it's vibrating against the heat-shield just behind the cat. i have the same problem. scared the $hit out of me today on the highway. mine only does it above 74 on the highway, or above 50 on rural roads (bumps make it happen more often). i suppose the heat-shield could be removed. don't know if it's bad to do that, but i know others that have done it on integras and they said it didn't cause a problem. if anyone wants to try it, let the rest of us know.

If you take off the heat shield, just be careful where you park.

The converter gets really hot. Before they had heat shields there were several fires started by parking on dry grass or other combustible stuff.
