which header
ok I know that the hp race header with hi flow cat is giving the best gains but it isn't street legal. I want to stay legal. So I am looking at the hp shorty header or the obx shorty header. I remember a member on here said the obx header is good but I dont remember where. I am also thinking about getting the random technologies hi flow cat with downpipe in the future so I want the shorty header. I asked which one of these two headers is better so dont say get the hp race because that isn't one of the options. Thanks

ok well also I found a megan racing header on ebay. They look just like hp headers. Does anyone have one of these. Also I found the shorty megan header and then I found a 4-2-1, I didn't think they made those for our cars, here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33631
ok, I don't know how much of this you know so sorry if I repeat anything.
LX/DX
The LX/DX, you can put any D17 header on this car LX DX or EX no matter what you do to replace the header on this car its illegal, messing with a header on any car is a federal offense if nothing is wrong with the header to start with. and sense the cat is built into the header you can't change it without doing something illegal.
If you put a header for the EX on the car you need to have the exhaust cut and brougt up and a new cat welded in. but it will fit on the engine. as well as having the second o2 sensor moved behind the cat's new location
If you put an LX/DX header on it, it will fit right up to the exhaust the way it is but you will no longer have a cat, and again will need a new cat welded in and the o2 sensor moved.
EX
You can of course just put the EX header on and you have no problems.
Or you can put the LX/DX header on but will have to cut the exhaust and have the flanged moved down to take care of the longer header.
Hope that helps, if you have any questions or I didnt' answer something let me know

I just wanted to know if the megan racing header on ebay was any good b/c it looks just like the hp and it is much cheaper.l I am just looking at the shorty header and will do a custom downpipe later. Also I have an EX so I am fine with a header. Just the integrity of the megan racing header opposed to the hp. If anyone knows it would be helpful.

yeah, 2001 Civ, you're wrong. its not illegal to replace the header on any car, but it IS illegal to replace the cat if nothing is wrong with it. i also believe that the cat on our cars are held on by a flandge and not built into the stock exhaust manifold like you said *tisk tisk*

I would go with the hp top-portion only header. Maybe the obx if they look the same as they probably ARE the same.
The hp because it can be had for an excellent price and the tubes are huge. OBX if it's the same as the hp because it might be a little cheaper. I think you'll be very happy with it.

I just bought an APC header for my car (2002 Civic LX), anybody else have the setup without the cat or even with the cat added in. what kinda sound results out of each? also without having a cat, wont that mess with my o2 sensor? i remoived my cat from my old car and ran it with an o2 sensor chip to make the computer think it had a cat... maybe i'll need to do that again? i'm not really worried about having no cat i just good sound not obnoxious(?) ..
