my friend here at work picked up a a 95 hatch with an si motor in it. all stock but he wants to put a header and an exhaust on it. i told him he need the the exhaust for the 95 civic and the header from the si but hes arguing with me.....can someone clear this up for me?
and would an H22 fit in the 5th gen hatch? im pretty sure it will but just a double check

Is your friends hatch a real SI or did it have an engine swap? If it is a real si you should be able to buy the header and exhaust. If you had an engine swap you might need make some mods cuz i don't know if the si header comes down in the same place as the dx hatchback.

when he got the engine swap did the shop do any mods to his exhaust? What i mean does he have a stock si header and stock hatch exhaust? if he does then you buy and 99 si header and 95 hatch exhaust. Since the stock ones bolt right in place i dont see why aftermarket wouldn't. you may need to do some mods depending on the header and exhaust combo you go with. some headers are shorter than others, same with catback exhaust. it's only like and inch or two inch difference.

As well, you might have some luck with a header, a downpipe or mid-pipe, and a custom exhuast made and welded on by a (reputable)muffler shop, often times a custom exhuast pipe is the right size (which for a b16a is 2 inches, or 2.5 if your running turbo.. the only time 3 would be needed in an si motor, is MAYBE if your running over like 14 psi, cause at that point I have little understanding of exhuast velocity, I am light turbo, no more than 8 or 9, mainly all motor minded) , it is not uncommon for a custom muffler to work just as well, or better than some of the exhuast systems out there, and as the motor wants a different velocity than some hatch exhuast may give, I would suggest either a custom exhuast, or research by talking to poeple with the same set up that have actual numbers or experience with the set-up.
