HID in stock headlight housing? Who has HID in stock headlight housings? Can you please post pictures of your beam pattern, I'd like to see how the beam spread, uniformity, and cutoff are like? Thanks, much appreciated.

Rep Power: 0 hey, i wanted to know what everyone thought i should do, should i put HID's in my stock housing or should i put them in TYC Projectors, cause i was thinking about getting some and they are two diff. bulbs

That's what I'm afraid of.
If you see BartKat's pictures, it looks pretty clean. The cutoff is there and there doesn't appear to be much difference from the halogen beam pattern.
But others have said there is a lot of stray light above cutoff.
Who to believe?
But then again, it could be the kits. Some kits may make a better job of aligning the source to the halogen source.

Rep Power: 0 i agree that a lot of people post different things about their beams, ive heard people say that HID's dont really work in factory housing. i think im going with the TYC's. even with those i have heard people say it looks funny but i dont care.

I think that's the trick. Some of the early kits with OE type bulbs had to have their bases changed and the location of the HID capsule wasn't right for H4 reflector housings. Some of the kits coming out now have true H4 bases, and corrected beam patterns and focus. One needs to be careful as to what one buys. I figure some of the really cheaper kits may be the old style bulbs with "shade tree" mods.
At any rate, it's all what you want and what's good to see with. I'm happy with mine, especially in bad weather. Much improvement over any halogen lights.
I'm not a big fan of projectors because I think they re mostly for looks or style, to look like some of the more expensive or foreign market cars. If that's what someone want's, then go for it. I'm more interested in seeing well at a reasonable price with a minimum of mods to the system. So the CATZ H4 works for me. They do have the kits with the right bulbs for projectors though.

Rep Power: 0 Also.. the cheaper kits use generic capsules which can go bad very quickly leading to a very costly replacement. The Liteswap Catz kits have a molded H4 base with precise alignment of the focal point.
The projectors would give you a better beam pattern and the light would be more evenly distributed. If you have the $, this is what I would recommend first. BUT, same with the case of HIDs, not all are created equal. Just because you have a projector doesnt mean you will have the best lighting. There are crappy projectors out there too (APC?). I have never seen the ones you are mentioning, but if they are Hella, Valeo or Bosch, then youre good to go!
