Choosing an alarm.. help!
Since Civics are the thrid most stolen cars in my area, an alarm is a must. Im not saying that an alarm would prevent it from being stolen, but it most likely reduces the chances of it being stolen. Im in the market of purchasing an alarm for approx 250-300 dollars. What kind of alarm can i get for this price? What features are a must for alarms? Any specific brands to look for? Thanks

krepoort beat me to it....DEI...not TOO expensive, very good quality, great warranty, and you can find certified installers/garages in any major city. i'd go with them.
Compustar
but it cost $600. alarms that cost 300ish like clifford or so sucks. everyone kno wit clifford say it sucks too. im just goin to save up for compustar. i mean i checked compustar in person, its pretty tite. its the kind wit the pager system, remote start/kill, alot more. and that **** works up to a mile away. i think its pimp but that just my opinion

If you live in a nice area with family picnics and ****, DEI $70-90 alarms are good. They aren't 300 dollar Cliffords but they're alarms and much better than factory. On the other hand, if you live in a not so colorful area such as Brooklyn, you want a Clifford Matrix. That's my opinion. I may be wrong...
Oh and word on saying Clifford sucks, Clifford Matrix was one of the top alarm systems.

Clifford's aren't that bad. I had one on my old car and it worked till the day I sold it. I would've got another Clifford on my Civic but decided on trying something different. I got an Alpine SEC-100R for about $200 installed. No problems at all. The blue LED is pretty sweet too.
I got a Viper alarm for $300 installed. It covers all four doors, the hood, and trunk (I have eclipse subs so that's a must), and has a shock sensor(if someone hits the car/breaks window the alarm will go off. I also got a "high security" install. They hide the box that is usually installed under the steering column so a thief can't just hop in a cut the wires, and they hid the wires under the hood for the same reason.
