Carbon Fiber
Honestly, does it do anything? Is it that lite to really make a difference, or is it mainly just for cosmetics. I realize that if you got your entire car done with it, it would be significant. But would a hood and a trunk lid do anything?

Sure, a Carbon Fiber hood weighs around 8lbs. while your stock one weights around 20lbs.......at least thats what someone said when they weighed theirs.
Every little bit of weight reduction counts.

yes carbon firber is very light, but it's primarily cosmetic...

If the person wants to have subs but keep their car at least at stock weight then they should save the weight by getting a Carbon Fiber hood. Yes it looks cool, but why do race cars you CF? There is a Toyota Altezza race car that is made totally out of carbon fiber.

Just to correct someone... The stock hood weighs 30lbs. The Fiber Images CF hood weighs 15lbs. A 15lb weight savings may not seem like a lot, but when you sum up all of your weight saving it translates to a smaller E/T. and better weight distribution. The more weight that you can take off of the front the better your handling will be in the corners. The CF trunk lid should weigh about half as much as stock too. I think that sucker weighs about as much as the hood. So... 30lbs less from the trunk and the hood is a very good thing IMO.
Right now my weight over stock is about even. I took off some weight with the CF hood, but I also put some on with the sway bars and the battery and the speakers and the front bumper. I'm going to shave the bumper a little though to reduce the weight. I've actually already dome some.
Anyway, think about weight transfer and saving weight. Sometimes that's better than adding horsepower. That is if you can shave off enough.

dont hate now...
so i get it, everyone is putting those huge wings on to reduce weight in the front of the car. 200 lb rear wing's lifting the front of the car up, I get it, I get it! If you put a carbon fiber hood, to keep it clean plz paint it.

Carbon Fiber looks really good......yes it is lighter, but that isn't the main reason I would want it on my car. If I want weight reduction, I would just gut the sh*t out of my car. Backseat, Trunk, no spare...the whole 9.....then you'll save some weight......
