HU Kit with door

Does anyone know where to get one of the kits that does have a door? I have seen it in at least one car like ours. Do they sell them or do you just have to have the factory one modded for the new stero??

The kit is made by metra, some people on this site don't like it, but I have had no problems with it. The only thing is that with some head untis, like my Pioneer with organic display, I had to cut some of it in order to fit the head unit it.

I found mine at partsexpress.com Here is the price annd item number directly from my invoice

1 265-668 METRA 99-7897 HONDA CIVIC 2001 DA $12.90
$12.90
1 UPS-GroundTrac $9.38
$9.38

TOTAL: $22.28

Just might want to add that you can find it for cheaper, but I have dealt with partsexpress before and they ship out quickly and have never had any problems with them

Just remove the factory headunit, but leave in the drawer on the bottom. Your headunit will fit in just fine, and it'll look better that any kit because it'll be recessed into your dash. I think bhaz's ride had this done to it. All I know, is I LOVE IT!!!

(So don't waste your money on a kit 'cause you don't need it.)

I found a link right to the item you were refering to, i think. its just for the upper part of the stero so it only works if you have a single din

I don't know what single din is, but I got it to work with my Pioneer deck, the one where it has different displays. I just had to cut some of the plastic to make the hole bigger. Works for me, but you can do whatever you want

The way that the place the stock HU fits in is angled makes it look fine with and aftermarket HU. Just try it, you won't be dissapointed with the results, and you'll save $10-$15.
