overheard a conversation about the AEM by-pass valve... lol!

In my econ class, two guys were talking about their rides... then when guy1 mentioned he had a short ram intake, guy2 asked guy1 whether he installed an AEM bypass valve on it and warning him of the dangers of hydrolocking, then guy1 gets all worried and asks guy2 about the bypass valve, then guy2 goes on about cutting the short ram and plugging in the bypass valves between the pipes... short-ram + bypass valve =

I'm begining to think that the only legit tuning scene now a-days are the high end like supras, rx7's ect. Not much respect comes from tuning a civic or other cheaper rides and such. I'm kinda getting sick of people like that making tuners look like morons and rice boys. Just venting.. Later guys

just thinking about it, i sorta feel guilty for not telling them... but i decided to stay quiet since class was going on after all (and they left class as if there was a fire in the lecture hall )... i was going to ask what kind of rides they had... i don't know much about cars myself and i've been at the stage where i thought a cai/sri was some sort of forced induction hahaha! heck it took me a whole hour to install my sri (traded my Diablo 2 and expansion for it hehe) because i couldn't get the airbox due to the fact that i didn't know there was a retaining clip ... but hey it's a start right?

anywayz, i have a feeeling guy2 would've convinced me into putting a by-pass valve on the stock airbox

Its never too late! Next time you see those guys offer them your assistance. Everyone needs to remember that at one point we all knew jack s**t and still many of us still don't know that much, myself included. But everyday we learn more and more, and I've learned quite a bit from this site and my buddy back home who has a '95 M3 and an Eagle Talon TSI. All it takes is someone nice that knows the info that you need to know that is willing to share that knowledge and help you to learn. It really bothers me when people make fun of those who don't know that much about cars. Now if you try to help them and their dicks, or try to act like they know more than you, than thats another story, but always try to help initially and pass on your knowledge to the new guys. They'll appreciate it!

Yeah that would be cool if they did. Then you could introduce them to the site and all the great things and people that come with it
