viper bumper is dying!

as some of you know, i'm a viper brother... at this point i'm really starting to hate the viper!!! i still love the style of the bumper but it's seriously going to hell.... it has cracks everywhere and white rock chips in it.... freakin' fiberglass is pissing me off.... i wish it came in urethane... i'd be really happy if gtp made a urethane version of it, i'd probably ditch the glass one i have for it in a second... deng... oh well... i'm gonna be a viper bro till the end...

damn, after me and everybody else said fiberglass is not good material for a front bumper on a daily driver PERIOD you still went and got it?

it looks tight, but i had the same issues with my very first bumper and i learned the hard way that spider glass cracks and pebbles from the interstate really blow

thats what sucks about the bomex kit.. I really want one but it's glass. Maybe if you get it painted and then put that clear 3M sticker stuff over it it will prevent the spider chiping.. maybe not cracking though. What do you all think?

it still wont do any good, the material is great for fabricating a kit but will never be as durable as Urethane

i dunno what the 3M sticker stuff does, do u know what it does exactly?

quick history on my first bumper that was fiberglass:
one spider crack on my first bumper happened courtesy of a motherf*****g pebble on I75 from a semi that was two lanes away from me.

the second, third, and fourth crack on my first bumper happened when i was coming out of the parking garage and it is a really steep downhill incline that i always had to come in and go out at an angle. i guess this one time my angle wasn't good enough for the f*****g bumper and the bumper hit the bottom of the incline, causing the bumper to get pushed up and as a result from the glass being inflexible the paint cracked in three separate places.

not to mention all the little chips from pebbles and various other debris on city and mostly highway driving

it was a money pit but thank goodness my w.w. avenger is urethane

My Viper held up really really well. It was sooo much more durable than regular fiberglass, but oh well..it's gone now.

Go urethane!

nice car ace
Yeah FG is really only for race & show cars.
A daily driver needs urethane.
Fiberglass fenders would be fine.

front bumpers always take the most abuse... i can get the bumper pretty cheap from importfan but painting is a big issue... i guess i could fix the cracks and repaint the bumper but it won't be the same... i wanna have that feeling when i first got the bumper on... all fresh and crack free i guess i'll have to wait...

Sure it'll be the same. Do you remember ak's bumper before I bought it? How bad it looked? Look at in now

I know, it's dirty, I couldn't help that but it looks brand new now. BTW, I could be wrong about this but the spider chips have nothing to do with fiberglass but with the quality of the paint. If it's a crappy job they may not have used flex additive or very high quality clear or not enough of something.
