Valentine 1
anybody know where to find a good deal on a Valentine 1 V.1.8 radar? I've checked ebay but was just wondering if anyone knew of a dealer or another website where it could be found.

Well, when I bought mine, they said they only sold it direct. Couldnt go to any other dealer/store to buy it. But in any case, you might wanna just check their site yourself. http://www.valentine1.com/

I personally have a PP 8500 and have tested it side by side with the V1. They are both great radar detectors equal in quality. Like Solar said, the only + the V1 has is the direction. If you have the cash get the V1. Otherwise get the 8500
BTW: if you get either one, esp the V1, don't leave it hanging in your windshield when you park your car. My cousin's friend's windshield got smashed just for the V1

I've had good luck so far with my BEL Vector 940. Retails for $200, found it online at SoundDomain for $160. In AutoScan mode it rarely falses, and seems to have good range on real threats.

I've owned a PP8500 for a few months and it has saved my *** more than a few times. I like the v1 simply because of the directional feature. Whenever my PP 8500 blares out I'm looking over my shoulder in the front, on the sides and under my car for the damn bogey!!! Is the v.1.8 the latest valentine model? how often do they come out with new models?
i wanna know why you would spend more money on a directional radar detector would a cop from the left make you stop alot faster than a cop from the right or behind all i need is the beeps why waste on functions that dont really do much unless you got that kind of money to burn.

Scenario 2: You're speeding along the left lane of the highway. Several on ramps on your right side. V1 signals a hit on your right somewhere. Slow your *** down.
Scenario 3: You're speeding along and about to hit a speed trap. V1 says 2 hits up ahead. Others just say 2 hits 'somewhere'. You slow down and pass a couple cruisers. You with your 'regular' detector laugh at them and speed ahead, only to be caught by another cruiser further down the road. I with my V1 notice that after I pass the first 2 cruisers, the V1 is still pointing a hit from ahead of me. I stay under the speed limit and drive by you pulled over by the 3rd cruiser. Hmm, one of the 1st two cruisers probably didnt have his radar on. I smile and think a $100 more spent on my V1 saved me $100+ on a ticket and points on my insurance.

Aaron
wow you must always be in a rush cause when mine beeps i slow the hell down cause that hit from the left could be anywhere on the left, could be hitting you just to screw with ya cops dont care what they do to give a ticket i just got one friday cause i ignored a band everyone knows x band isnt used that much in radar anymore so it is usually ignored when mine went off x9 with 9 blocks flashing i chose to ignore it didnt matter where it came from (other side of highway comming at me) but it took the cop nothing to turn around in a emergency turn lane and follow me for 2 miles paceing me mind you till he pulled me over so it really doesnt matter that you have directional points or not if it goes off slow the hell down whats 2 miles of regular speed when on the 3rd mile you can go ahead and be the beast of the road again.
Bottom like: get what you know works thats why they have recipts and returns try it before you buy it my radar has never let me down i could only blame myself for my ignorance (cops are supposed to use old technology damnit)

You just gave another example why directionals help. V1 shows a hit on the left. Apparently there are gaps in the median which a cruiser can turn around though. V1 now shows steady hits behind you. I look back and see a cruiser in the background. I slow down. If you're just gonna ignore your detector..then

BTW the Passport can be set up to count "bogies" it can read 4-x bands 3-k bands and 3-Ka band all at the same time. If I'm going down the highway and pick up 2 Ka bands, and one that is stonger than the other, I slow down until its gone, but the second one normally starts to get stronger from the Trooper just up the highway.
