center console replacement (shift boot)

I remember this being covered before, but i couldn't find it....

where can i get the manual shift boot center console replacement thingy? I looked on hondawerx.com but i didn't see it there. I have an auto and the new shift **** i bought is too long. it fits when the shfter is in drive or reverse, but it won't go all the way to park. so i guess i'm going to go with the "fake manual" look.

anyway, could someone link me to where i can buy one, preferably one for cheap. thanks!

I got a nifty hint for you. I was one of the first test dummies to see if it would actually work or not. Greg doenst sell EVERY PART on his website, like 99% of parts you have to request for your car. He only posts "accessories" on teh site. If it can be put on a honda at the factory or dealer he can get it.

Anyways, take the boot back off. Flip it over and look inside the "boot" part. Notice the plastic parts? The one near the front towards your stereo is the one that is in the way, just cut it off with a razor or something. Just dont cut the boot or youll be orderin another one. Once that plastic piece is out of the way, it will shift much easier into park. Problem solved. Next question???

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "boot." I'm guessing it's the little golden platic piece with the holes that have P R N D etc. on it. Is that what you mean?

I am not sure if you are looking for the whole assembly. But, I just started working on my interior and I bought a shift boot and e-brake boot from this place on the internet. They were at a local show I went to. They are really great to work with. they will customize the shift boot and e-brake boot anyway you want. I only paid $35.00 for the full set. It was such a great deal. It makes my interior look so great. I do not have that nasty rubber boot from Honda showin. I can upload some pics if you guys want to see it in installed. I highly suggest checking them out. Go to

Hey, I saw that on ebay the other day for $30 for the boot and ebrake. Is that what full set means? The ebrake and shift boot? I didn't buy it b/c I didn't see anywhere on the page that said what material it was made out of. I mean I don't want some kinda pleather or plastic... Is it leather? Does it feel nice? Pix man!!!

I had some of the same concerns. It is not a true leather. I am glad though, cause I can only imagine how much it would cost. . It feels and looks just like leather. It is actually a really nice material. I like it becuase it seems to be in great condition even after a couple of months. I have had it in my car for about 2 months or so and it looks just like the day i installed it. One of the girls in my crew owns a Nissan 300zx and she paid almost 150 for a leather shift boot a little while back and it is beginning to crack and it looks quite cheap now. I figured even if this shift boot only last a couple of years, it is so affordable I will just buy another one.

Heres some pics...
Sorry they really do not do justice, but these are the only only ones I can find right now. I can try and take more if you guys want...

Jamie

Oh, sorry about the "pix MAN" thing if you're a lady, and sorry for saying this if you're a guy... Damn unisex names (my name is Sidney by the way) Anyway, you got both boots for how much you paid right? It looks pretty clean. I thought the site said that it doesn't fit the SI, or was there one specifically for the SI, I forgot. I'm considering getting one now, thanx to you!!! sheesh, I suppose I can spare $30. How does the ebrake fit? Thanx again man/ma'am...haha

I am a girl. I know you can not tell by the screen name. I did not know that when i put it in for nickname that it would use it. And I do not know how to change it.

But, I know what you mean about the unisex name. When it comes to cars everyone assumes I am a guy. I kinda totally understand why though. He He.

Back the boot set. They fit is unbelievable. I was so amazed when I got it and installed it. It is so good, that when I took the car into the dealer, that were taking bets that the new Si's come with the boot. it was quite funny. I went to pick up my car and all the mechanics were asking me if that was a stock feature at another dealer.

I guess they stock boot sets that are the same as factory, so every make and model has a specific boot for it. Here is the link to the 2k2Si page.

LInk to 2k2 Si Shift boot and E-brake boot

That is the page that I made the purchase from and the item I received was fantastic.

I am glad that I could be the reason for your purchase. It really is a great item. People constantly notice it and are always asking me about it. Maybe i should contact the company and she if I can sponsored..

If you have any other questions, I would be more than happy to answer them for you or if it makes you feel better I would suggest contacting them directly. They are really nice. A real pleasure to work with.

Let me know, how it turns out...

Hey Jamie, thanx for all your help so far, and yes, they should sponsor you... that would be cool! If you do ask them, I'll put in a good word for you when I buy the stuff.

One more question, I notice that you have a chrome piece on top of your boot, but below your shift ****. For the EX, there is a similar silver piece that clips onto the OEM shift ****. So my question is, how does the top of the boot (closest to the shift ****) look like when it comes? Is it all loose? Or is it tight (hopefully), so it will fit perfectly uner my JDM Type R style shift ****? What did you do to get it to fit under your shift ****?

Thanx again to a super cool chick named Jamie

I just installed the shift boot like they said so to. They give you really easy to follow (not like it is hard) directions, that really help a lot. It was nice for me to have the directions, cause I knew where to start. The shiftboot is really snug at the top. And then you just put your shift **** back on. And the boot goes right up to the bottom of the shift ****.

My install looks just like this...

http://www.jujeracing.com/civicsi2002.htm

In the first picture at the top, it shows what I think you are referring to. That is how mines looks to. It goes all the way to the shift ****, because you reuse all the same hardware from your existing boot.

Hope the helps..

Jamie

PS - You are pretty cool yourself..
