Actually buddy I think you're the one puffing the choob today. If you scroll down, the Ceramic is more expensive then the Stainless for the EX. $339.95 for the CC and $309.95 for the SS. But no where on the site does it say "two pieces".

The original DC Sports header. This two piece header is designed for ease of installation with a factory like fit. Development for this and all of DC Sports headers was done in house on their Dynamic Test Systems Engine Dyno. Development done on the dyno

I didn't check DC's actual web site. I was going by the link at the top of the page.

So was I. That info comes directly from the description of the DC header for 01-02 Civic EX from that website.

It says Si header is one piece, but Civic EX header is two piece. Just click on the Civic header and look.

Yup. It might have helped me if I clicked on the header. The Ceramic is still more expensive. That was the main point of my post. Thanks for clearing up the 2 piece though.

I figure the ceramic costs more because of the coating process. I think it may be a plasma spray coating that costs extra. I don't know though if they are putting this on top of stainles tubing or carbon steel. I guess that would make a difference.

Some companies may do the coating in house, while others may farm that out to another company, thus adding to the costs.

Besides that, it appears DC is higher than some other brands, just on account of the brand name.

The ceramic headers tend to last longer for some reason.

I heard the opposite. Stainless steel will last longer then Ceramic because the properties of the metal. That's why most exhaust systems are made using T304 Stainless steel.
The reason they manufacture headers with a ceramic coat is because 1) it's more cost effective (cheaper) and 2) the coating helps to retain the heat. Retaining the heat helps keep the energy in the exhaust gasses and doesn't emit as much thru the engine bay. It's not that it runs cooler, just doesn't dissipate it as easily. If you're really concerned w/ heat, have it heat coated and thermo-wrapped. The thermo-wrapping will reduce life span tho.
