JDM parts
JDM parts
Is there any way to just get ahold of honda japan to order JDM parts? I mean i can go to my local dealership and buy a brand new SI motor whenever i want and i'm sure that people in japan can go out and buy a new rsx-r motor if they want. Any way to do so without going through a 3rd party?
And, why dont more people buy the rsx-s motor from honda NEW instead from a junk yard or a site that sells them used?

hmm. I didn't think most people acquire new motors from the dealers. thats too expensive.
I would think most people get them from junk yards and another retailer or whatever. there's plenty of sites and retailers specializing in engines...
if people do buy it new instead of used... probably because they want a brand new engine so they know no one has done anything to it and can properly break it in and work on it...
but thats too expensive, I doubt the majority of people get new engines.
btw u can order from the dealer in japan I suppose but it'll cost you an arm and a leg plus you have extra fees for the freight.. and you might have to deal with custom and duty charges too.

The answers to most every day newb questions: eBay.com and Junkyard!
I guess search qualifies as an answer also!
Not talking about you ohioaj78. Just saying in general. It would be key if the new motor you're going to swap, was going into a
new car as well. But that's rarely ever done, because no one dares molest their new car! It is (as CapYoder mentioned) expensive too.
Lol, be prepared also to be able to both speak and understand the Japanese language and/or bad Engrish.

Ok, you CAN buy direct from HondaJapan. Their prices are going to be on par with the USA dealers, but your looking at shipping charges that literally tear you a new a-hole. I bought a set of JDM tails for my old sedan, total cost was about 330 bucks, and the actual cost of the tails was something around 250 bucks. And when i did the currence converter, teh shipping really was on par, they didnt just rip me off on shipping since i was international order. I couldnt imagine how much shipping would be on a japanese engine......

Also, a NEW type S engine/tranny/ecu etc will run you about $11000+ ....and thats from me with a decent discount.... THATS why people go wit used engines.
Having been to Japan for 10 months and asking around while I was there, I can tell you that the Japanese do buy new engines and sometimes new cars every 3 years or so due to this insurance they have called JCI. If you want to keep your car running, you have to go through a very expensive inspection and change out certain parts that are manditory. Most people rather just buy a new engine than pay for the renewed JCI.
That is why there are so many JDM engines for sale in the U.S. with 35k miles on them because that is when the JCI expires.

hey mugenracerx you have any civic SI engines, or base rsx engines.. you would probably save an assload on those engines, and you could always get the type s/r tranny and head.

lol I went to my local dealership and I asked how much would a manual tranny cost they said roughly around $2000 and thats not including labor
so I said to myself that I would just go the damn junkyard and it cost me $300 for a used one so ya. Too expensive for that stuff.
