irritated with new tint (please help)
ok i recived window tinting gift certificate for xmas and i just went and got it done. d+l window tinting in baltimore md for those who know who that is. ok the side windows and front strip look ok but the back window is another story. i have an eternal blue 2k2 ex and they cut around the 3rd brake light which is freaking tan it stands out and looks like **** i looked through the members rides section and searched and it now seems like a few have cut out but most do not. is the cutout normal? do u have do pay extra to have the 3rd brake light covered? and i also noticed that the matrix **** was also not covered. wtf! i am gonna call back and do some bitching but i was just wondering if i am in the right before i call and start complaining any responses are appreciated thx in advance

ya know thats funny cause i see that all the time on our cars... and when i went to get mine done the dude told me he was gonna do it like that too...
I said F%$k that. and he said sorry... he had already broken someone elses 2k1 civic's rear deck ... trying to remove the thing..
Well... i told dude give me a minute to thing about it.... ran out to the parking lot.... opened the trunk... disconnected the brake light... and pop'd the rear deck off in like 30 seconds..
ran back in, show'd the tint guy... he said no prob see you in 2 hours... lol so basically..
either your tint shop is ghetto and they dont know what they're doing and thats just how they do cars...
or they were like mine and afraid to break the thing...cause the car was so new that they hadnt done many...(i also got my tint done two years ago)
either way... check the DIY section... i think they show u how to take it off there.....then take it off... go back to the tint shop and be like WTF... why can i see through my tint? why is there a big hole!!!! lol they should redo it

If your not happy with the job they did go back and talk to them about what you dont like, chances are they will fix it for you for free. As for the 3rd brake light Ive heard that in some areas its illegal to tint over them. I had them cut around mine when I had mine done and it looks ok but I have a NBP coupe. As far as the matrix is a up to you decision. Some people want it tinted some dont. When the tint was first done to mine I opted not to tint the matrix. I took it back the next day to get it done though, I had 5% put on it insted of 20 I have on every other window. The only problem with the matrix is it can take forever to dry but big deal and it can sometimes turn white between the lil black dots.
When I asked the tint shop about the 3rd brake light, he told me it wasn't legal but they could do it easily <with a wink and a nod>. No problems, they did a great job... with that matrix stuff, you can only see it if you examine the back window closely, I've heard that extreme freaks place a solid black decal on the inside of the back window to cover up the matrix dots part. Wouldn't be too expensive, but up to you....

D+L is supposed to be like the best, but I live a little out of the way so I didn't go there. When I took mine to get it done at a different shop I took off the back and they tinted the whole window. I kinda want it darker though, but don't feel like ripping it off on the side of the highway.
I don't have my third brake light covered, but my friend with an 01 Accord does. He bought the more expensive package and the place covered it for him, no questions asked. I think sometimes it depends on what tint you buy. I bought the 20% for a cheaper price than my friend, and i didn't get it covered. He paid about double and he got his covered. I guess it's all relative
I still need to take my car back to the tint shop, cause they cut around the 3rd brake light and the dot matrix looks like crap! It's all uneven looking, some are white, some are filled in. My friend with a new Sentra had the same problem, and he went to a different shop. Anyone else with this experience? I can take a pic and post it up here if ya wanna see.
