Upper and Lower Grille Grill
I just want to know if anyone had any real sucess with fabricating a Grille,
I'm not talking about buying one, I think thier too much money for what they are,
First the basics
When you go to Home Depot to purchase the grille
it is Called Concrete Lathe, it is used for laying concrete
It comes in a 2' x 4' sheet,
You should coat it with a Spray Can or Clear Coat.
To help Prevent Rust,
The easiest Way I found to cut out the shape you need
it to use a large peice or semi thick paper, and make a template
push the paper in the section where the grille is to go,
They cut out the shape you will need,
Lay the Concrete Lathe on the paper, and cut that with wire snips
So far my attemps have only been moderatly succesful
The two main issues, I can't seem to resolve are
1) Attaching the Grille, Out of all the options I've heard, (Zip Ties, Metal Wire, and Fishing line)
I went with fishing line. It's the most flexible and nearly invisible.
I'm not big on fishing, maybe i just don't have strong enough fishing line
Mine broke twice, I tied it on in Four spots for the bottom grille, and twice for the top.
I just used some fishing line, I had in the junk drawer, do they make super heavy fishing line
That I should get somewhere ??
2) The edges
The edges are sharp as hell,
Once you get the bottom grille on, it's no big deal,
But you can really cut yourself on the top grille opening the hood
My best thought was to use that chrome ghetto door trip, but it is not flexible enough
to get onto the concrete lathe
So if you know a good answer for these two problems, please respond, or email me
Or if you have other suggestions
Or questions I might know,
If you wanna yell at me, saying something on the lines, of use the search feature, please dont bother.

I used that same stuff, but the fishing line never broke. Maybe the friend that gave it to me has good stuff or something. As for the edges, try cutting the grill a bit bigger than needed and bending the edges around with a pair of needlenose pliers. It might help. The only other thing I could think of is to try using some silicone around the edge and letting it set real well before setting it into the opening.
just go to any fishing/hunting store or Walmart and buy a spool of fishing line that has the highest pound test.....not sure where your from, but if your near the coast, you could probably find some strong **** for deep sea fishing
