its universal. it will fit. just basicly mounts on the bolts for the seatbelts... adjust... and it is suppose to prevent chasis flex. i dont know is it effective or not..
come to think about it... if we do mount this bar.. it will go ontop of the plastic panel.
on my friend 98 prelude SH.. it is carpeted.. so it wasnt a problem at all.

I still dont think u really need anything like that.
someone on the site has it, and seems to like it, and thinks it does something...
but I still dont think u need anything like that. you're better off with a strut bar or something.

I've got the arospeed one but I had to drill new holes in the mounting bracket because it didnt line up with th seal belt bolts, and I had to make some other minor modifaction but I got it to work. I dont know much it helped out because I have other strut bars but I think its cool to have one...

SUMMARY:

Spend your money on something else...like a Neuspeed front upper strut tower bar or RSX rear anti-sway bar.

Supposedly RS Akimoto has one out specifically designed for our 7th gens. I've never seen a picture of it though. The WW (Wings West) civic has it I think?
I have the RS Akimoto floor bar. It's highly polished and is straight (no bend in the center for the previous generation civics). Mine mounted perfectly. Just had to take the seat belt loops off (just above the floor) and then mount them on top of the floor bar mounts. Used the OEM bolts cause they're extra long anyway.
Definite reduction in chassis flex (torsionally). No longer hear my sunroof squishing/creaking when I cause a twisting effect on my car by entering driveways/curbs diagonally.
I have all the other suspension goods as well so my car is quite rigid to say the least.
Current Set-up:
-Neuspeed Upper strut bar
-Neuspeed front OEM sway-bar polyurethane bushings
-Honda OEM '02 performance front mid chassis brace
-RS Akimoto floor bar (designed for 7th Gen civic's)
-Progress Rear Sway-bar/tie bar set-up
-Koni yellow inserts on all 4 corners
-Ground control in front/Neuspeed in back
-18" Centerline RPM's with 215/40/18 Yokohama Parada Spec II's

Well; I'm hella late on adding my commentry. I agree that the concept is good for the floor bar.
Universal? I hate that word when it comes to car stuff.
Universal means: that something will have to moded.
The foor bar will definately eliminate the chasis flex in the new civics.
With the flat floor board that the new civics have the body will more likely flex then the older civics with the hump going down the middle.
Its like fiberglass, the more curves you give the stronger it will be.
Make the fiberglass flat and apply some pressure it will brake. Hence, new civic swill flex more.
I'm going to take some mesurements.
Draw out the peices.
Buy the materials and have one welded together for less than the arospeed one currently available.
Well parts hunting people.

When Honda designed the flat floor they compensated for the stiffness factor. The 7th gen is no less stiff than the previous model.
Besides, IMHO, if you add enough stuff to your car you could end up with a 3000 pound Civic. Now that would be slow.
If you want a "floor bar look", maybe put one of those clothes hanger bars only put it on the floor instead right under the roof.

As many people know now, the 2002's (not sure which models) came with an additional chassis brace that mounts to both sides of the subframe just under the powersteering rack. This is a piece that will fit with no modifications to the 2001's. It definitely helps neutralize some of the flex in the front of the car. Along with the Neuspeed Upper Strut brace and front Neuspeed swaybar bushings, and okay, the improved suspension, I've been quite pleased.
The RS Akimoto straight floor bar (to my knowledge) is not being produced anymore. I doubt they sold enough to make them on a regular basis.

For the "Honda OEM '02 performance front mid chassis brace" check out the DIY's in my sig. It's the one labeled "oem part".
