Removing the 3rd break light??

I want to remove the 3rd break light in my 2k2coupe, because I got the oem spolier that come with break light. Just wondering is it possible to take them off? How hard is it? Any one done it before that could help me out with some instructions?

THanks

at first I was going to say its not a good idea to remove it, since its a safety feature... but n/m you're getting the spoiler.

the guy who I saw that had it removed cut it out of the back deck and put mesh in its place. The housing for it is molded into the back deck....

ak can only hope to improve
Step 1. DIY Removing Rear Deck

Step 2. Remove 3rd Brake Light Assembly

if you just wanna disconnect the light bulb, you have to get in ur trunk...

You will see the socket there =)

It's not worth cutting up your rear deck. I have the spoiler too & all the dealer did was unplug it when they installed my spoiler. The rear deck brake light cannot just be removed, you'll have to cut it out of your rear deck. Just unplug it

mikalem is on a distinguished road
I installed the OEM spoiler myself (takes ***** to drill 5 holes in a brand new car) and it came with instructions on how to unplug the center light and plug it into the one that comes with the spoiler..... if it's a true OEM spoiler it will be very easy and this post was completely a waste, if it's not a true OEM spoiler, you got screwed go complain

I am confuse. So, the whole 3rd break light unit is attached to the rear deck, and the only to get rid of it is to cut it out?

Yea. Have you ever looked at the setup? Go check it out. It's molded into that rear deck lid. The only way to make it flat is to start cutting.

I have the OEM spoiler and it annoyed me to have that brake light in the rear window, but I wasn't going to cut it out or anything so I just took out the rear deck when I got my car tinted so it covers up the brake light. With 20% tint you cant even see that brake light.

man this is weird. Ya'll are saying that the third brake light is unplugged whenever you put on the spoiler with the light. I got my car with the spoiler on it and the third brake light is still on

Yep. When you install the OEM wing per instructions you unplug the wire from the third brake light and plug it into the wiring that hooks up to the brake light that is in the wing.

I asked Majestic Honda about some plugs so I could run both third brake lights and they said I would have to buy the entire brake light wiring harness. Might be able to make one, if you can find the right plugs, etc, but that's how the OEM DIY kit comes. You only have the third brake light on the wing.

Yeah I had my spoiler put on at the dealer when I bought my car and I have the 3rd light and the spoiler I need all the light back there I can get. Too many rear end accidents these days. But yeah I have limo tint all around so I never see the 3rd brake light anymore really.
