32+ HP at the wheels?
I found this auction on eBay, but find it hard to believe.
The seller claims that the system, an HP stainless steel header, high flow converter, and mid pipe (muffler not included in the auction) delivers 32.4 HP at the wheels.
I emailed him, mentioned the SportCompact (I think) article that showed only 3 or 4 HP with intake and exhaust, and asked him for the dyno printouts. He didn't have them, but insisted that his claim was true.
Does anyone know if this is accurate? Sounds like a heck of a deal if it is, but you know about something that's too good to be true...
Any thoughts?

He just emailed me back in a raging fit about my question.
He said that was working on putting a turbo kit on his 7thgen right now in his garage!!! Haha........little does he know that there is not turbo kit, only custom jobs.

I will only buy it if it comes with stickers, they add another 5 HP or so -

you guys are lame.
Its obvious he's kinda exaggerating. his price is a bit high though.
these aren't crap performance parts. they're the ones that everyone's all hyped about. the HP 4-1 race header with downpipe and "high flow" cat runs for about 250-300 new. and its one of the only bolt-ons with worthwhile money to performance ratio.
whats so lame about him getting a turbo setup for his car?
if he went all out to get this header on his car and even went and purchase header wrap for it, then its obvious he's aiming for performance.
and since there are no production turbo kit out for our gen, its obvious he's getting a custom job done.
a fair/good price is 350-400 shipped.
whats the point of emailing him and flaming him? you guys got nothing better to do? if you make a constructive criticism towards the auction, thats fine, but you're not buying anyway. so whats the point.
if anything, you guys can inform the bidders that there are better options, instead of sitting here flaming away.
anyhow, thats your opinion, so I'll respect it. but I think its lame
edit: also, expect 5-15 whp with this setup. thats just my guesstimate. and thats peak figure, I dont know how that comes out through the power band, but with a 4-1 setup like that, you'll probably lose a bit of low end with a decent boost past 5,000 rpm. torque and hp curve should move up the powerband.

HOLD UP...
first off, thanks YODA for comin in and tryin to straightin this mess out, but let me help clarify something....
The HP header that includes a DOWNPIPE, is NOT THE ONE YOU WANT. if it includes a downpipe, that means its a SHORTY header, just like the DC, but with bigger tubes. it only produces up to about a 5-6 hp gains, if that. The header that produces good gains, around 14hp to be exact, is the HP 4-1 Long Tube RACE HEADER. this is the header in which i installed on my LX, and since then have not been beat by any 01+ Ex's. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....you've all been wonderful audience.... haha, jk. but seriously, i have not been beat by any civics other than Newer and Older Si's and RSX Type S's. this header works wonders. if you need a pic of what it looks like, go to the DIY HP HEADER thread. there are a couple pics of the header that im refering to. The HP however does not have that HOLE in the tubing which the header in the picture has. i think its a joke personally, but obviously some lamo decided that a hole in the header is better than an O2 extension. idiots!!! i just altered my O2 sensor wires to extend them, and got the TRUE HP RACE HEADER (4-1 Long Tube). make sure you get what you want, because you might not be happy if they send you the SHORTY HEADER!

Wraping is bad. I talked to the guy at the muffler shop that did my cusom exhaust. He said that wraping the header will mess up your engine over time cause the heat is being held in and the engine is trying to get rid of the heat not keep it in. So what I am told cause I did ask when I got mine, was not to do it cause it will mess up my engine over time. Plus I think it looks like crap. I have this header like the one with Bluenvy01 and this header is real nice and the gains are good.
And for you guys to flame on this guy is so not cool. I see alot of flaming going on which I hate being done my people that have a stock car. Get something done on your car first before you flame. People always flame on my exhaust, but I get more people that like it. Do what you like and continue with it. take peoples opinian but dont flame cause someone get a new front bumber that may not look like the best, but that person may really like it. So dont flame. If you see something that you think isent true and know it isent true why email someone and **** all over them. Just leave them alone. Thats just my opinion on flamers. GET A LIFE!!

Re: Flaming
Although I don't normally condone flaming, I don't think flaming this guy is bad.
He's not being flamed for having the exhaust or for getting rid of it, but for overstating the gains he got from it. If it were just for bragging rights, I don't have a problem with exaggerations, but if he's trying to sell something to someone based on his claims, he deserves to be flamed.
You see where he's added the caveat to the auction info about mis-typing already; he assured me that the original claim of 32 HP was accurate, but he's now had to recinded that claim. So is 22 HP correct, or will he have to change that when people start emailing him again?

I'm just saying there's no point to flame when it wont stop the guy.
yeah emailing him to change his "typo" is good. 22 is still a lot though...
hmm. dont know which header that is. or even if its geniue HP product... er... I know HP produced a few.. so..
but thats probably not the one we've been seeing lately too. is there 3 different "race" header?
I remember there being the 1 piece design... and then there's the two piece one that Bluenvy and the rest seems to have.. and then there's this guy's with the o2 sensor on top... duno whats that about.
here's the low down on header wrap. yeah its ugly. no I dont think it harms your engine. more like the header. if it harms your engine, why does the stocksetup have a heatshield to trap in the heat in the header? Remember physics, the hotter something is, the faster its molecule moves. The hotter those exhaust fumes are, the faster they exit the exhaust manifold. using header wrap is just a more extreme way than the stock heatshield setup. the con is the look, (which I dont think should matter, its in ur engine bay. sometimes I think people dress up their engine bay too much.) and the fact that its putting extra stress on ur header... it may crack earlier due to excessive heat... probably cuts the life of ur header down quite a bit.
but yeah... thats what I know. I could be wrong.

The guy explicitly said in the e-mail answer back to me that it makes 32.4 horses. So it couldn't have been a typo. He just changed it to make it more realistic.
The guy also said that he has gotten over 50 other e-mails bitching him out about it. GOOD JOB GUYS!!!!!!!!
I sent him the link of this thread so that he could see what we were saying about him.
