areodynamics...
now, according to a magazine i read recently (i know i know...) they said most bodykit companies do not windtunnel test their kits nor spoilers. so my questions is...
1. what companies make body kit for our cars and are actually drag efficent and not just "for looks"?
2. does anyone know the honda oem kits are wind tunnel tested?
3. what about spoilers?
thanks in advance

mugen does for sure! its on their site. but its gonna be a cold day in hell when they come out with anything for the 7thGen.
Veilside also tests their kits in a windtunnel...same cold day in hell as the mugen one. im guessing theyre gonna come out the same day. LOL
im guessing the oem body kit is windtunnel tested, i would assume honda does that. im sure the hybrid spoiler was definately tested so that there would be minimal drag to improve fuel efficiency.
as far as anything else, im thinking they just do whatever looks good...

Considering Steph Papidakas used the 7th gen frame on his h22 beast with the oem kit untouched there is a possiblility either he or his team has its aero specs. The only external modification to his 2k1 frame is the hood which was raised to accomidate his vertically placed h22 and his fenders flared for front drive slicks.

Think about it this way... Mugen, Veilside, etc... who sell $4000+ kits, wind tunnel test their kits. Wings West, Kaminari,etc... with $1000 kits do not. Sometimes they get lucky and they improve airflow, but it isn't really their primary intention, looks are. If you look at the expensive wind tunnel tested kits, they all have smooth lines and very few details molded in. They are totaly for moving air, function before looks. They're also incredibly light.
There was a whole write up about the differences between Aero kits and "looks" kits in Super Street a few months back (in the NOPI guide issue). May want to look at it.
I'm guessing Honda tests the cars in the wind tunnel (if you've driven over 100 MPH, you'll see it holds the road fairly well) and it has to be sleek to have so little power and still move at a respectable speed and get the gas milage it does, but I doubt the aero kit was tested unless it just happened to be on a car that they tested.
