i'm trying to order the venome400 from tornactive, but i can't find a part number for the 01vics. does anyone know what the part number is
sorry, i actually do not know the part number, but i do recommend that you contact ROB at TORNACTIVE... im sure theres an email contact address on the site. otherwise you can try gettin a hold of IDQCIVIC from this website... i know for a fact that he has it and it is installed.
You can use this as a guideline for price or information.
VENOM High-Performance Poison For Your Vehicle
Venom 400 Control Module
The Venom 400 Performance Control Module is an add-on control unit that features its own micro-controller. This module is connected to the vehicle's sensors and increase engine performance by monitoring the sensors output characteristics and modifying the input to the existing vehicles computer.
The Venom 400 improves horsepower by as much as 25% through the range of approximately 1,000 to 5,000 RPM. Besides a substantial increase of torque, the Venom 400 reduces flat spots or delay time during sudden acceleration.
The Venom 400 incorporates an 8-bit micro-computer that is capable of monitoring the various sensor inputs and modifying their output at more than 40 times per second. If you already have installed a performance prom, the Venom 400 will enhance the vehicle's performance beyond the parameters set by the performance prom.
The Venom 400 constantly monitors the vehicle's throttle position sensor (TPS) and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) or mass air sensor (MAS). When air flow entering the engine and the throttle position sensor reaches a predetermined level, the Venom 400 is activated. The Venom 400 then enters a strategy of sense and modify. It senses the sensor values, interprets them, then modifies them to increase performance. The existing on-board computer senses the modified values and increases fuel flow, modifies the ignition spark curve and transmission shift points (on automatics only). Once the sensor valves return to normal mode, the Venom 400 switches back to sense only mode until conditions again warrant the high performance mode.
The Venom 400 is only active when peak performance is required. During normal driving the Venom 400 remains passive until the microcomputer determines that engine airflow and throttle position warrants increased performance. Normal fuel economy prevails while under normal load.
Enhances the performance gains achieved by installing an upgraded chip. Whatever the gains are as specified within the chip, they will be magnified through the use of the Venom 400.
The Venom 400 will not trigger the emission safeguards of today's vehicles.
The Venom 400 has an off switch so smog certification is achieved when not racing.
Red cockpit LED indicating Venom 400 activation.
Up to 25% or more increase in horsepower throughout the power range of 1,000 to 5,000 RPMs (where the vehicles red line is 6,000 RPM)
The flat spot or delay found with automatic transmission downshifts, which can be as much as three seconds, is eliminated.
Venom 400 works equally well with automatic or manual transmissions.
The Venom 400 will not damage existing vehicle electronics and no modifications to the existing electronics are necessary.
HP & Torque: Up to 25% increase
Installation: Easy installation in 20 -30 minutes with basic hand tools requiring only four electrical connections. Note:The Venom 400 requires no modifications to existing engine components and can be completely disabled at the flip of a switch, restoring performance back to original equipment specifications.
Retail Price: $454.94
Your Low Price: $299.91
Usually ships within 24 hours
Edit: The part that is in bold is what I'm wondering about. My question is, how is this triggered, and is it triggered often enough to warrant $300...
Edit II: Saw it even cheaper here

I went to the the Venom Performance site, read the FAQ, and it says it activates when the throttle body is open 25-30%

The venom comes with directions on which wires to tap into and where they are. The TPS and MAP wires are by the throttle body. If you have an intake they will be easier to find. positve and negative I just connect straight to the battery. I mounged the VENOM unit behind my intake on the firewall with some double side tape that was included. Nothing has to go through the firewall except the LED which you can mount in your dash to indicate when the venom is working. Hope this helps, later!
Thanks man. Sounds easy enough. I had a Hypertec programmer for my Firebird and it did pretty well. Sounds like the Venom will do what I want. Mainly want to get more timing advance than the ECU does now.

BartKat, if you indeed decide to get the venom, I expect a full report.
Looks like Rob has the best price. The guy on Ebay has a $250 minimum bid and wants $14.95 shipping. I gotta find out tomorrow how much my roof wing paint job is costing. Then off the Philadelphia for a week. I ain't never been up there before. Looks like it will be a nice drive up through Va.
Up late cause I take naps. Like to watch the Len reruns. But it's not as late here as it is in NC.
Besides I need to find out what day my social security check comes before I buy too much stuff. I just about spent my Goodyear pension check already this month.

Yea, but it's still pretty late. I think I am an hour ahead of you...I have to be up at 6am!
I can take it though.
I wish I could look forward to a SS check. I will have to wait and see.

I hope you can look forward to a ss check too. Heck, by then they may even have free medical insurance. I'll tell you for sure though, the best thing ever happened to me was the 401K plan. I never got into stocks, but put away a bunch of money and never missed it out of my pay checks. I'm hanging on to that for my old age. If they'd have had 401K 30 years ago I could have saved up a million by now.
Hey our little conversation in the wee wee hours got me up to "Ultimate Member". That is just so kewl. Hot damn and whoopeee.
