Some mods from my car and quick reviews/comments
Saw this at Honda-acura.net and they had this thread going with people posting their mods and making some comments on them.. or things they got... I know we have a review section but I figure since I typed all those crap maybe someone would like to know my opinion on some of these items since they may be interested in getting them.
so here goes:
- InJen SRI
-www.autocarparts.com
-$170 shipped for a SRI!!! Oh man I guess I was impatient... 2 weeks later, saw it for 150 shipped somewhere else.
-Works okay on my 7th gen, the fit was pretty good, and the quality was there too. Made noise like all other intakes. Low end went outta the window, top speed decreased by 10 mph. Why did I get it? I just got the civic and that was one of the few things out at the time.
Neuspeed Front Strut Bar
- www.tornactive.com
- 107 bucks shipped to my doors
- Works good. stiffer up front, took those corners with more ease and more confidence. But nothing major, just a strut bar after all.
RSX 19mm Rear Sway Bar Conversion
-www.acuraautomotiveparts.net
- 87 bucks shipped
- My best mod so far. Gone was the old 12mm ex rear sway, in went the RSX 19mm. And man was the car more neutral or what?
Ebay rear upper strut bar
- www.ebay.com
- 22 bucks shipped
- Didn't really think I need this as the 7th gens have their shock towers on the floorbed of the trunk... so there probably wasn't much flex there.. but it surpsingly stiffen it up more. Cant complain about 22 bucks. It tied the two points together like it should. Product was all fudged up though. Had to mod bracket to fit the shock towers.
Ebay AEM replica CAI
- www.ebay.com
- ~$60 shipped
- Well the filter suck, the pipe is cheapy, but it doesnt matter. A pipe's a pipe. as long as it doesnt melt or crack, its all good. Filter I will replace with a K&N when I'm not lazy or decide to keep this. Doesn't come with necessary transmission bracket to hold the intake down, but any capable guy should be able to come up with something similar. Duno the gains yet, haven't really felt any lost or gains. So thats not too bad. Makes better noise than the InJen SRI. We'll see how it fairs when I slap on a better filter.
Ebay 4-1 header
- www.ebay.com
- $98 shipped
- 7th gens have different exhaust manifold design... it consist of a upper section header with a downpipe tahts welded to the cat convertor... this aftermarket header consist of the upper section only. bigger pipping... smoother transistion in a sense... I cant believe it but I think I actually got more low end! RPMs climbs to 3k faster. felt more zippy. so i think the torque increase was actually there. Could be the placebo effect, but then again, I really felt a difference, small, but its there. Header was made with decent quality too. (You'll need a nut to plug in the o2 sensor hole they have though. its for the DX/LX. this thing fits EX perfectly, will require mod to fit DX/LX... if you can get it to fit DX/LX by welding on pippings between this and the downpipe, you'll get some decent gains since you're getting rid of the stock cat convertor.)

yeah the a-pipe and the stock cat remains there...
I was thinking of swapping that out with a downpipe/testpipe but thats pollution heavy.. so forget it.
I think I may actually keep that ebay header. and get some thermal-tec exhaust wrapping and then evnetually get a cat back.
the stock intake has its own pros (that being the low end torque) which I like very much since i'm a daily driver. so I may eventually swap in a drop in filter.. or.. I duno.
here are my intake choices:
stock with K&N drop in.
K&N FIPK
AEM replica with K&N filter.
