What gear? How Fast? How many RPM's???

Tonight i was thinking that it would be cool if we documented how fast we were going in each gear at a given RPM. For example....

1st Gear... 25 mph ... 6,000
2nd Gear... 50 mph... 6,000

I dont know what my results are... but I will find out if somebody else writes down their stuff... I just think it is a neat idea for people wondering about some performance MODS and I thought this might help them out.

Just a thought... You all might think i have too much time on my hands... HAHA

i guess this topic was already posted before, but here's my thought. the car manual suggests that you change gear on the 3000 mark, however, I still follow the old fashion way of changing gears... change gear every 25 kph, or 10 mph of additional speed. By doing this, I got better gas mileage. I am averaging 38 mpg in case you want to know. I also have an ex without any engine mod (yet).

If you know the gear ratios and final ratio you can calculate the speed given the gear and rpm. I don't know the equatons off hand but I'm sure I could find them. Anyone know the gear ratio's, it's 2am and I dont want to run out to my car to grab my manual

the manual actually tells you the recommended points of shift for 'normal' and 'cruise' driving.

I think older civics had better gear ratios in the trannies, becasue I ran my g/f in my hatch before I sold it and thats why she lost is beucase i could run each gear out farther than her, and i had a sohc dx, when we ran, she would shift way before me and i could hit close to 100mph in 3rd

The car is redline limited... You can go as fast as you can with out hitting the redline governor in a given gear. So the more HP you have, the faster you can go, but there is no set Mile per hour limit.
