I thought I remember readin a couple of months ago that someone said that you can wrap aluminum foil around the o2 sensor and trick it into believing that there is a cat there. I just got my test pipe and I rather not buy a simulator if I dont have to. Does anyone else remember reading anything like this?

You need the simulator, its only like 50 bucks and defintly worth it... If you wrap it in foil its not gunna do a damn thing because it needs to have an appropriate reading. I have a test pipe and simulator and think its well worth the gains it gave me. If you have the CEL on then you won't be getting the right fuel map settings. The simulator gives readings to the ECU so that it thinks it still has a cat. I wrapped my sensor in foil just to keep it from getting dirty but the CEL still came on before I got the simulator. If you search, i've talked about this many times!!!

sorry but i did search and all i got was the short explaination of what the O2 simulator does. I thought I remembered someone, its probably you, that said they wrapped up the O2 sensor in aluminum foil, but I guess I read what you posted wrong. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks and ill probably go and get that sim now.

Ok, i just ordered my sim and its gonna be here on friday. Got one other question. I know it goes behind the glove compartment and hooks up with the ecu, but does it give a wiring chart for our cars in there? I was just wondering cause if its easy, ill do it myself.

The product that you are talking about to fool the ecu into thnking that there still is a cat on your exhaust is called a MIL Eliminator. I have them on my mustang and they work great.

where can i buy the test pipe , and how much should i expect to pay for the pipe,simulator,and any thing else for the install ? ( i dont know if it matters but i have the dc header)

i also have the dc sports headers, but i got mine made up from a buddy of mine, but the prob is that you are not supposed to drive with it on on public highways. It will basically kill all of the emission regulations and will be a big fine unless you live in an area that doesnt have emissions. Guessin though, it will probably cost you like 50-100 to get the pipe and probably another 50 for the sim.

as far as the the emmisions that shouldnt be a problem.im guessing the pipe will have to be custom made ,right? if everything is done right , what kind of gains should i expect?

how hard is it to hook the sim up? maybe you can write a DIY up for everyone. That would be wicked cool.

The o2 sim is easy to hook up. It has 5 wires. I used the DIY for the vafc fuel thing to find some wires. The 5 wires are positive, negative, RPM, TPS, and o2 sensor. Positve and negative are easy to find. The rpm wire is up by the battery under a black boot and its a blue wire. I don't remember the color of the TPS wire but if you read the other DIY it should tell you. The o2 sensor wire comes off the o2 sensor, just cut the signal wire (I think its black) then hook the o2 sim up to where you cut it, you still have to have the sensor hooked up to its harness. Its that easy, it took me like a half an hour tops, and that was just because i was being careful. I hope this helps, later.

You're right, but that's just for Mustangs. I ordered the O2 simulator for our cars and it's called an O2 simulator, not an MIL Eliminator.

Ok my O2 simulator just arrived and it has the following wire colors:

One white with green stripe wire
One white with blue stripe wire
One white with black stripe wire
One solid black wire
One solid red wire

Now I they have them listed somewhere on this site, but Im too lazy to go look for them. Can someone who has already installed a )2 simulator give me some help with where I have to solder these wires. Thanks.
