HKS Hiper Rear Section Intalled!!
First of all, let me set a rumor straight for some of you. No, HKS wont be putting out a cat-back system for our cars. There are a few reasons why, you can read all about it on the HKS website in the forum section (www.hksusa.com).
Ok, now onto the good stuff.
The HKS Hiper rear section is the best sounding exhaust that i have heard for our car yet. It isnt loud at all. Very mellow, deep, smooth tone. Infact on a hard acceleration in the upper rpm's you heard mostly the intake (if you have one). It is a beautiful piece. 96mm tip, with a 130mm muffler hiding behind it. It sits at an angle to the outside of your car, and points up a little bit. Performance you ask? HKS claims a 5hp increase, give or take, and a 5 lbs/ft of torque increase, give or take. Yes, i can feel it.
I will have a sound clip up in a day or two, sorry about the wait. The cost? about $300.
Write me if you have any questions,
Peace~

man, just read the HKS Forum Thread. damm, the stock exhaust is really good. keep us posted on the sound clip.
Was it an easy install? Where does the rear section start? Did you have to modify anything? How long did it take you to do this? Last did you have to buy anything else to install like sensors and such? thanks can't wait to hear and see some pics!!!!

I actually didnt put it in myself, i had someone else do it for me (long story). Anyways, it took him all of 15min from when my car got on the rack, to when i was listening to the orchestra at the rear end of my car. So i can only assume it was a straight bolt on, no mods to be made. I looked at the installation instructions, it sounds really easy. It starts at the axle, and goes back. I only have one problem...CLEARANCE!! My car is dropped about 2" from stock, and to get that angle from the tip the pipe kind of sets itself so the muffler is pretty low to the ground. I will take lots of pics really soon guys. I will try for tomorrow.
I love this exhaust, within the first hour of having it i had three thumbs up for different strangers, and one punk kid in an older stock civic wanting to race me.
Look for a post by me sometime tomorrow from me
Peace~

so no custom piping or anything, just the rear section with the can and thats all??
cause i was looking at the stock exhaust pipe down below today, and it doesnt look like its too restrictive. i mean no folds or anything in the bends, and the bends arent that extreme either. i think thats the reason why our cars dont take that well to these aftermarket mods...its all pretty optimized as it is stock.

in case anyone is interested, the HKS Hiper universal (same dimentions as NoBottle has) is going for $205 shipped at GroupBuyCenter.com.
im buying it once someone tells me whether its a bolt on, or if it has to be welded to the stock pipe. and if it has to be welded, will i be able to reinstall the stock rear section when my lease is up????

HKS said honda did a great job on the stock exhaust system so it would be almost worthless to put out a catback and charge us an arm and a leg for it. Hence the rear section - props to HKS for the honesty - im bout to hook it up for my girl when she takes it over.

hey, on that link, it says muffler, not axle back or rear section or anything. u sure it's the same thing? but then again, when i went to hksusa.com they have a picture of the rear section, and it looks like a full-catback to me

my only suggestion would be to go to www.hksusa.com and find a certified retailer in your area. theyll order straight from the manufacturer and will most likely install it for you (altho its prob really easy), but theyll rip you off on the price. my local retailer quoted me 360 just for the rear section and 80 for the install. i was like WTF??? "yeah, great...ill let you know soon." right. but if theres more than one retailer in the area chances are you can haggle on the price and get them down to something reasonable. in cali thats gonna be pretty easy, on the east coast, not. oh well.
