Lowering my Ride

Besides springs what else is needed to go into lowering my car. I've heard all types of different things that I would need. I'm trying to figure out how much it would cost (total). For those of you who have already lowered their car, how much did it cost? Can you also raise your car once it has been lowered without having to change it too much (thinking of winter driving and $)???
