How wide can the tires be?

I am thinking about 215/45R17 tires. That seems to be the closest you can get to not effecting the speedo. Only .6% slow. Has anyone with tires that wide had any problems with rubbing in the wheel well?
Also, what is the best wheel width for those tires?

I have that setup, no problem on rubbing...

get wheels with width of 7" and offset of +42 or +45 (or else it will rub the fenders a little bit)
