Magnaflow Exhaust

I just installed my Magnaflow Cat and the smell is wierd, and the sound is too soft! I know the smell will last a while, but will it ever get louder? I didn't want a weed wacker sound, but damn my pipe is silent. I also had to get a buddy to torch & crimp the pipe where it runs past the lower sway bar because it was bent to early so it was knocking when I turned, anyone else?

Sound is a little soft probably because of the resonator. Smell will go away shortly. I had problems with my tip hitting the bumper and the u-bolts not sealing the connections. It will get just a little louder as it breaks in. I think if this system was loud, it would be a real ricey sound.

The smell will go away in a while. The sound will definately get louder. Not loud loud, but louder. You will never get a weed wacker sound so don't worry. It will get deeper and more mellow after a couple months. To make it sound even better yet get an intake if you don't have one yet. Hope this helps.

To keep the tip from hitting the bumper, don't pull on the bumber, bend the hangers connected to the muffler to get the muffler to drop a tad.

Yes, that is what I did. I layed underneath the car and hit upward on the hangers with a hammer. It did the trick. There doesn't have to be big gap, just along as they aren't touching.

Yeah, Im having the same problem with the front section rattling and hitting, when turning, when driving over roads that arent perfectly smooth and sometimes even when accelerating normally...have to get that fixed soon cause it sounds like crap! I also might have it welded so I know theres a good seal at each joint. Have noticed that its gotten more loud and deep over the past week, just a little though.

You shouldn't have to weld anything......If your hearing banging or rattling, that's not normal! Either it's not tightened or not hung properly.....Anyone who has a problem, call me at the office 9-5, I'll help you as much as I can over the phone.....

Found out why it was hitting the front sway bar...there was no tension on one side of the connection where it first bolts to the cat, which caused it to line up right next to the sway bar instead of where it should be. All fixed now though and much nicer not having to drive like a granny to cut down on those rattles. Sound is better now too because the seal is much tighter too.
