CF Hood?
CF Hood?
I just got a dent in my stock hood and the repair cost will be around 800 dollars. It sounds like a better deal to go with carbon fiber. Is there any
drawbacks to carbon fiber. And where should i go to buy one?
Oh and is installation difficult?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help

The instalation of the hood is very simple, it is only 4 bolts on the hinge. Both ViS and Seibon make good quality carbonfiber products but Seibon seems to fit a little better and a little more expensive. You may need to instal hoodpins for safety precautions because I have seen a carbonfiber hood fly up and smash against the windshield a couple years ago

hood repair $800?!?!? damn where are u going?...most body shops (even the ones that charge alot) around here can replace a hood and get it painted for $400-500 or so
The biggest drawback of a CF hood is that it's a safety hazard.
Conventional hoods are made of metal and have a crumple zone--carbon fiber sheers instead of bends, and in an accident the carbon fiber hood can fly off its bearings and chop your head off. Well made carbon fiber hoods shatter as opposed to flying towards you in a giant sheet, but still are more dangerous in the event of an accident than a conventional hood. The thought of a giant hood coming straight for you isn't very comforting--something to think about.

Aki, you are the only person i have ever heard say anything about a CF hood chopping someones head off. I know people who have the hood and have been hit at different speeds and not one has ever flew back at them like you say. You almost sound dad like with a statement like that. Sorry but it just doesn't happen, or just hasn't yet.

Go to www.showstoppersusa.com You can get either VIS or Seibon for $425 shipped.
I got backed into about 6 months ago and the damage to my hood was $880.00. That was cheapest in town. I never did get it fixed. I plan on taking the money and buying a Vis CF hood. I have seen a few and you can find them at a good price. Seibon is a little too high.

^ exactly, i told him www.showstoppersusa.com for the Seibon hood. You can't beat $425 shipped for one. Seibon puts that last and final coat on there hoods unlike VIS, Seibon also has a little bit better edges too.
