Installing body kit
Anybody ever installed their own Buddy Club 2 body kit on their civic before. I'm waiting on my body kit to come and wondered if there was anything really important to know about installing a body kit before I start putting mine on by myself. I'm a DIY kindof guy. Ever since I have had my car I am the only person that has ever turned a wrench on it. I don't let anyone touch my car because most of the time they don't give a crap about someone elses stuff. Anyways, I'm just wonderin how hard it is to install a body kit. I would gladly accept any kind of advice or tips on this. thanx

Buddy Club 2 Has a pretty good reputation and I would think that it's gonna be a halfway decent kit, so I shouldn't have to many problems with it. Although, I'm not sure how to fasten the kit (especieally the side skirts) to the car since it doesn't come with hardware. Any ideas?
I have the BC2 front and rear bumpers on my Civic. The front fit fine with just some minor trimming of the bumper, but the rear required the left side to be v-cut and built up with duraglass to fit the contour of the left quarter panel.
I suggest when putting it on using automotive grade fasteners where attatching, and installing side stiffeners ( a piece of metal that attatches to the car body and the bottom of the bumpers) to make the kit rigid and not flex and crack when going down the freeway at 70. Most guys skip this step and it starts to crack at the upper attatachment points.
PM me and I'll walk you through what I did to make the fit and finish as good as it is on mine.

well if ur installing it to stay, get some stuff called i believe "seal all" which is like an epoxy glue kinda stuff and some double sided 3m tape. then once its painted of course and ur not gonna take it off, put some double sided tape on, then put the seal all over top and push the side skirts on the side of the car, then hold it for 2-3 minutes and then let it sit for a few hours so it cures and ur set. it holds really well. i have urethane, i think u got fiberglass so u dont got sag issues, but it keeps up well. through a few winters, not any problem, i did have to redo one side, but thats not due to the seal all, its due to poor mechanics who cant get the car up the lift without pulling the side skirts off the car. gl tho.
No No No No No...do not do that. If you plan on removing your bumper/side skirts/whatever, which i do often for new mods, then DO NOT do that. If you use any kind of sealer (besides 3M cause its not that hard to pull apart) then it will cause nothing but trouble becuase its a pain to get the bumper off if you need to and by the time you do you will relize how much more work you have to do because of the damage done by the sealer. Bolts/molded-into-body are the best ways to go. Anyways the BC2 bumper should fit perfectly with no cutting or trimming. Mine fits flawlessly, its all just a matter of getting it right.

yah i got mines with 3m. just go to a hardware store and buy some self tapping screws. just do it right the first time and you wont have problems, you can even pain the head of the screws if you want to match
You will have minimal to no trouble / fitment issues if you bought an authentic Buddy Club 2 kit.
If you bought a cheap knock off (aka BC2 kit or something to remind you that it's Buddy Club) you will have nothing but difficulty when it comes time to install it.

I just got the body kit today and I am having a few problems getting it to fit right(especially around the left headlight and the right side of the rear bumper) but I will spend all weekend filling and sanding to make it fit just right.
A lot of times when doing the rear bumper, they seem to be TOO wide which in turn causes the bumper to bow out at the corner where it meets the quarter panel(right below the taillight). You can make a V-cut at the corner of the bumper, it will relieve the stress and make it line up with the quarters perfect. Then you will have to re-glass the area that you cut out.

Finally, after working all day on the rear bumper I got it on but it still needs a little finessing to make it perfect. I am very impressed at how nicely it fit around the trunk lid and tail lights because at first it wasn't even close. The only spot that I am having problems with is on the sides at front most part of the rear tail lights it doesn't want to snap in, it sticks out.

And a problem with the front.
And a problem with the front.
Don't be afraid to put a rivet or self tapper to hold that area in that is sticking out. Remove the tail light, the bumper rests on top of a plastic black bracket, push in your bumper so it is flush, then drill an 1/8 hole and attatch the bumper to that bracket below. The tail light will cover up the screw or rivet head. Good luck, good to see someone else who sweats the details.
Sorry dude i was only regarding the front bumper before, the back i dont have so i cant say. but the front..... is it too close to the driver side headlight? or is it slightly raised out? tell me whats going on and ill see if i can help ya

Thanks I am starting to see progress on my installation. On the front bumper it fits nice at the fender then kindof tucks under the head light about 1/8th inch at the corner under the two parking lights then when it gets down to the corner of the light by the grille there is a 1/8th inch gap like horizontal gap not vertical although its a perfect fit vertically all the way around.
