[ Shocks / Struts / Dampers ]
This may sound dumb, but what is the difference between the terms shocks/struts/dampers? I am under the impression from the pictures below that we have struts and not shocks.
These are pictures of the difference between Koni Yellow shocks and struts:

shock/strut almost the same thing.
Shock= chambers that air goes through......easy to press down......hard to explain,,,,,,softer.........
strut= gas is inside and the strut is more heavy dutty,,,,,,harder to compress than a shock.
and they are also mounted differently

I found a website a long time ago that explained the difference. They ae more or less all the same thing. It is just a play on words. Basically shocks do not support the weight of the vehicle whle struts play a more integral part as they provide structural support as well as controling suspension movement.

I can't explain the difference too well, but I can tell u why we have struts on front, shocks on rear.
thats cuz we have different suspension setup in the front and rear. macpherson strut on the front, double wishbone on the back.
previous gen civics would have shocks all around. (well, those with 4 wheel double wishbone anyway)
