The mazda was ending up becoming a money pit. I bought a engine from a wrecked mazdaspeed protege. It came with the stock turbo, ecu, radiator, intercooler, and wiring harness. The ecu wasnt compatible because mine was an automatic. The mazdaspeed ecu had upgraded fuel maps in it for the turbo but I couldnt use it so I stayed with my stock ecu. I drove the car too hard and ended up bending a valve and burnt up the rings. I didnt feel like messing with it any longer so I traded it in.

Thats exactly what I did about 6 months ago to my '04. Significantly upgrades the look of the car without breaking the bank.
