Spoilers - Why does everyone hate them? I've been looking around this site at people's cars and noticed that almost no one has a spoiler (or if they do its the stock one). When I read around in different posts I see people flaming those with spoilers. I was just wondering why everyone here seems to hate them so much?
Personally I love em, I just got mine in the mail an hour ago and I cant wait to paint it up and put it on.

Rep Power: 0 Because people are haters and they try to righteously uphold their anti-riceresque views. It is true that they don't normally serve an aerodynamic purpose, but some serve an aesthetic purpose.

Not all the members here hate spoilers... I am partial to having one myself. I have the stock spoiler on my coupe right now and I just bought a wings west mini-me wing. I think the car looks good with or without the spoiler, as long as it flows with the car's lines.
Big *** wings and aluminum wings generally do not serve a purpose on our cars because it's FWD and we dont have enough horsepower to need a whole lot of downforce. Just my 2 cents.

no one has a big problem with spoilers (STOCK) you're talking about a WING. huge *** metal WING. I don't have a problem with spoilers, I have a stock one, I usually dont mind any spoiler if its painted to match IE made to go with the car, but when you put something thats 6" in the air, for no reason most ppl just find it to look rediculous.. why do you need a step sitting on ur trunk, or a ladder.. most ppl dont have a problem w/ tasteful mods.
Nothing works better than a Chris except a Honda.

I like some styles, including non-stock ones. However, I don't like some stock ones, like the one on an SRT-4. I'm not a fan of tall ones, unless they're actually useful like stock ones from a Plymouth Superbird. I don't like tacky stuff either, like home-made spoilers.
I'm saying they look good on some cars, not all cars. I mean, I've seen non-performance street cars with wings bigger than those on a actual race prepped cars.

It is everybodies personal preference. I get people telling me to put a giant wing on my car, and I just am like, "no, ugly, no purpose, blah blah" . If you like them, get one, and dont let the other people put you down for it. If they do, so freakin what. I have chrome rims that look good on my car, and everybody says otherwise. The people who have seen my car from this site, said it looks nice.

Rep Power: 0 I just got my spoiler in the mail, I threw it on my car just to take some pics and see what it looks like...I'd love to post some pics...but the files are too large. Does anyone know how to shrink the pics down?

But some of my friends say they dont like it because its a Front Wheel Drive vehicle, and a spoiler is supposed to push down upon the back wheels in a RWD car or some ****. Personally I don't give a damn what they say, there are some very nice spoilers out there, just not damn metal wings.

Rep Power: 0 nothing wrong with spoilers, its all about taste. most want something clean and nothing to far fetched, wings are just frown'd upon because they lack fuctionality.. I was gonna order the tsunami roof wing and spoiler but instead I went and ordered me a oem cf hood. next on the list is the spoilers though.

Rep Power: 320 dude the mini-me is as small if not smaller than stock, its definitly cool IMO... im not a huge fan of spoilers/wings that go past the end of the trunk, but that one definitly looks cool if done right

do whatever floats yur boat man, i hate those aluminum spoilers that people put on their POS's, like i saw one on a crapped up tercel the other day. I think the OEM ones are great and u cant go wrong with stock.

Rep Power: 0 personally...i dont like wings that are put onto a front wheel drive cars. to me it makes no sence what so ever. but i dont flame people. i just keep all the shiet talking to my self. i like wings on a rear wheel drive cars like toyota supra or 350z. but anyways...it is your car so you do what ever you want with it. and who cares what other people thinks.

Rep Power: 289 I like spoilers when they look like they belong on the car. IMO, if you have a body kit that can make that shiny airplane wing on your trunk look like it belongs on the car, go for it.
