Rep Power: 0 hood pins is for safety.....and secure the cf hood when you on freeway...
i didn't have hood pins when i got my cf hood...when i driving on freeway..i can hear my hood poping up and down because the hood is lighter than the stock hood....if the hood pops year by years...and the hood latch will break eventually. Try think about when you driving on freeway and your cf hood fly up!

Rep Power: 364 its all perception and how your car is setup to be considered if its rice. the more simple and clean it looks the better but if you want APC stickers and fugly euro lights etc it would be legitimately called rice

Rep Power: 447 I have the VIS OEM CF hood for my 01 and I dont think it looks ricey.. I also have hood pins because as someone else mentioned.. when you are driving on the highway, you can see the hood bobbing up and down a little. Pics in "See My Ride".

5 pounds? lol ... put your stock hood on a scale and put a cf hood on a scale and you'll notice a larger difference than 5 pounds.
interestingly enough, my no-name brand generic oem-style cf hood weighs much LESS than my old vis oem-style cf hood ... I got my cf hood completely painted oem color and it still weighs less than my unpainted vis cf hood
