Carbon Fiber lightweight?
Hey guys, i've got a carbon fiber hood in the mail and i've been searching for the last while to see how light weight it really is and if even makes and kind of performance difference, sure it looks badass, but does make any difference? thanks

It's a little lighter... but not by much. Our OEM hoods are pretty light to begin with.
On another note... I opened the hood of my g/f's car ('99 Contour) and it's like 100x heavier then mine. lol

The stock civic hood is very light. I know that when I had my 2nd gen eclipse the stock hood on that was around 70lbs and the C/F hood was 14lbs. Your not going to notce a big diff at all unless you do a full c/f front clip and trunk and rear bumper and then strip down the interior to just a drivers seat. Take out that big system and pull the spare out. Then pull out your a/c and evaporator. Maybe then you will kill a couple of 1/10ths. or a 1/2 second on your lap time. I've heard that for every 200 removed from the car you should knock off a 10th sec from quarter mile time. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That is a good deal.....what brand is it? You have to look out for cheap c/f products bucause they fade in the sun really fast. Also cheap c/f hoods can shatter from a rock hitting it just right.

K, i got the hood on but the only downside that io see is that the fluid nozzles don't fit in the holes, is that normal or could that be the defect?...next question....how do i fix it?

I loved the carbon fiber look for a long time. Now its really starting to get played out IMO. And whats with the ghetto carbonfiber hoods(black primered). That really gives me a good laugh.

"Bitchin' Camaro" thats a cool song. I quess that primer adds some aerodynamic performance qualities. It allows you to cut though the air like a hot knife through butter. LOL. I think faded factory paint does that too. Theres a guy rollin around phoenix in a faded blue Geo Storm with yellow tinted windows. His car is really fast. NOT! That car makes me laugh.
