exhaust break-in?
i just installed a catback exhaust today this morning and noticed some burnt exhaust fumes smell after wards.. is this normal?
its not much but i can smell some of it inside the drivers seat and around. am i suppose to let the pipes break in for a certain period of time or some?

also for like 10 miles after a new exhaust is installed, you can have smoke coming out of your exhaust as it gets broken in. the smell could be either or? ^^

Yup. I had a new rear section put on and that thing smelled for a week and a little smoke too. Also once it's fully broken in, the exhaust note will be louder/more defined. At first it didn't make any noise, then after a while sounded nice.

Its normal for it to do that. Its just grease and crap that has accrued in its long storage at that big ol' dusty wherehouse. It'll go away. Exhausts do not need a break-in period

yes its normal everything new like that is going to smell, smoke...etc
just like installing a new header too.
its not going to HURT your engine reving it up like that....
that other guy sounds like he's sayin driving your car to and from work puts "unecessairy stress on the engine"
bwahaha
no but seriously...i think its negligible it just takes a lil time to burn that stuff out...all your gonna do by reving it up is getting the metal in the exhaust to get hot qiucker than if you were to just drive it around.

at first you might get the smell of like burnt plastic or something like that....that is cuz of the excess **** in the piping but after that your good....about 1,000 miles your exhaust should be fully broken in...
