Ram air

i noticed some aftermarket hoods look like they can be used for ram air. is this possible with our civic esp with the way the tb is situated?

it would also be interesting to see how much gains are made from this too.

yes you could do it but you have to make sure you still have a filter.... and if you go anywhere with alot of snow its a bad idea. I think its time we all accept the only hp gains worth talking about are FI and swap... then again this is FI i guess. still i doubt much if any gains.

yeah but F/I is like 5k and swap is like 6k-7k. if i bought a civic, i don't have much money to go around and swap engines. i just want some serious N/A power

the only things i can think of a ram air/vented hood would do for our civics would cool the engine quicker. it'd be good for ppl with short ram intakes so heat soak wont occur so quick.
i think its more for a show piece than performance wise though.

it would be hard to cram in a filter in between the vent and the tb, and still have adequate air flow.

forget the hood. if you develop something with the front grille or bumper, that may work. dont expect too much "boost" though, just slightly better pull on the highway...

my friend has a patent on a ram air system that he brought to ford, they tried it but made WAY too much power and couldn't avoid detonation. i guess my friend developed the strongest ram air system out there haha

yeah, b/c big engine cars like those would benefit from the extra air.

Oh really?
Well, seeing as how a turbo accomplishes the same effect, then Ford engineers must all be retarded right?
