you could dismantle a rear brake light and ab some peices to mount leds too.
Buy bulk leds off ebay. Wire them together and put it back together.
Fine someone with a bust tailight that will donate it to you and you could practice on
Or you can pay a company to do it for you like these people:

My photochop
and im still thinking if I should do it or not... LEDs create heat, and I' am not sure If i want a lot of heat within the plastic tails.
We will see within this month (this is my DIY Month
)

) that looks really nice with the LEDs. i was looking at the LEDs on the G35 in the drive thru at "in and out" haha and i was wondering if anybody had made those yet. how much are the LED inserts? the ones that go into the stock connection

LEDs use close to no electricity... so there's no way it would generate that intense heat....
also think of the length the LEDs go b4 they need to be replaced... they don't use a heat filament like conventional bulbs.

Probably a better plastic.. My friend was going to redo the light bar thing on my spoiler with all new brighter LEDs.. I'd consider cracking my halo tails open to do an LED conversion because I think it looks sick.
On my headlights I have a 194-style LED that is basically concaved and they produce wicked light and don't get too hot.. Not to mention they're not just a rounded glass light. They've got concave plastic around them (I think that's how it works) so they shoot the light straight out.. Problem is, they're 5 bux a piece.. Also for extra you can get these bulbs that have 4 mini-LED clusters, 6-mini LEDs, or more I think.. But they cost even more. Anyway, what I'm getting to is that there ARE LEDs available that don't necessarily produce the same amount of heat but you'll be paying extra.

the g35's use some sort of PWM circuit...
see here: http://hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1166
something about blinking them really fast during non-braking, but so fast it's not noticeable to the human eye, but when you step on the brakes, they light up full power...

$5 apiece? You got ripped, this place sells them all for under $5 a pair (194 size):

As for LED tails, Mine will be LED's (not in an civic tail) but I'm doing a full conversion. No, it's not an MB, top secret, should be done spring of next year (once the car is paid off and parked, as it'll be a show bitch). That's when I'm getting my body work finished and repainted. Pics to come upon completion.
